This is my first time visiting the gpu section of this site and I was hoping for a bit of guidance on overclocking my two 560ti 448 cores.
I have two of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125406
The defaults based on msi afterburner are
Voltage = .988
Clock = 732
Shader = 1464
Memory = 1900
I was reading many of the first few sections of this forum but there is just so many sections I couldn't justify reading all 160 to try and find my answer.
I started oc'ing these to get the most out of skyrim, bf3, ac revelations and some other games (and also increase the nvidia 3d settings like ambient occlusion, clamp, etc etc. I want things to look as real as possible.)
I started with an oc of 800 using 1.00 volts and only an increase to 1950 memory. This seems fine but of course like most of you i wanted to keep going.
I seem to get some screen tearing and or hard locking when playing skyrim at the next two configurations. How much higher would you go with the voltage on each to make them stable? My temps have only gone to about 67c on the top card (60 on the bottom)
oc # 1
Voltage = 1.025
Clock = 850
Shader = 1700
Memory = 2000
oc #2
Voltage = 1.038
Clock = 900
Shader = 1800
Memory = 2050
How high could my memory potentially go? I simply bumped this up 50 more for each oc? Whats an optimal memory for 850 and 900 clock speeds?
Fore the voltages - should I simply go up one more notch and continue to use the card, if stable save, if unstable bump it up again.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Best bet is to leave the memory alone at first and find most stable core. Yes, you need to up the voltages until stable. If your temps are good, then you are okay. I say anything under 80 on max load is a good temp on air. Once you find highest core then try the memory.

Any Good reccomendations out there?
Must be less than 300 =)
I liek the idea of this Gigabyte

price wise and the Game and the Cooling looks useful, but is it efficient? Im very used to the Fan Sux in Air at one end of card, and exchausts out the back of the Case - with this, it doesnt look like the expelled heat goes anywhere but up into the where I dont want the heat to be lol

With this set up it will exhaust the air into your case. Not allot of people have the gigabyte cards from what I have seen. The cooler reminds me of the cooler on the MSI cards. Those coolers work really well. Not sure on this one though.

I know there is comeone selling his EVGA GTX 560 ti 448 core FTW cards for cheap. 260 I think. You may want to look in the classifieds here and compair the 2 on google or newegg.

im looking for the one that will do the best at venting the hot air out, I do not like to run my fans at full, and I may be getting back into overclocking my CPU since i lost my 3.8ghz profile and Completely forgot what the hell to do.

My Case gets excellent air flow, BUT its not 100% enclosed so the likelyhood of hot air from GPU heating up my CPU is fairly likely sicne it will just simply rise up
Thats the only downside to the HAX932 Mesh Grills everywhere.

Which Card would Vent the best?

Which Card would Vent the best?

In a pretty similar spot myself, and have been eyeing 448-core cards since the prices dropped a bit.
Perhaps the EVGA Classy Ultra would be ideal for you since it vents out of the case.

I'm kinda torn between that and the TFIII which is currently $250 after rebate (decisions, decisions)....

Thanks selluminis

I'll give it a try tonight and then move my memory speed up after it's stable.

I agree. The ultra uses the GTX 580 PCB and the reference cooler, which is designed to move air across the card and out the back of the case.

I want to see what the ultras can do. Plus, you can use the GTX 580 full cover waterblocks.

Ok so I downloaded furmark for to do stability testing on my overclock and have found some interesting results which make me wonder if one of my cards should be rma'd

using my core settings of
Voltage = .988
Clock = 732
Shader = 1464
Memory = 1900

I max out at 32 fps and average 30 fps and my gpu goes into the high 60's. Both cards get a full gpu load when running furmark

next I went to
Voltage = 1.025
Clock = 800
Shader = 1600
Memory = 1900

Max fps is 30 (odd considering my defaults were higher) and I noticed that GPU one was only getting 50% load and hence lowering the frames to about 18 fps after 30 seconds of furmark. GPU2 was getting a full load. I upped the voltage a few times on this modest oc and the results were the same.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? I didn't even try to go higher since the results were worse on this 68 mhz oc.

This might explain why skyrim locks and or reboots my pc when i use an oc settings after so many minutes. Will remounting my cards or switching the order on my mobo help? Is it worth a try? does it matter which gpu my monitor connects to?

I am truly stumped and wondering if one gpu is defective or has absolutely no oc room.

Huh, You might try actually going up some more on the OC. I have seen where if people up the OC that they are on, they get better results when in your situation. I know it is counter-intuitive, but worth a try. Other then that, try switching the cards. Not sure what it means. It could also be bad PCIe sloit/s.

Some side news - price drops on Nvidia cards.

MSI GTX 560Ti 448 TwinFrozr III $249.99 after MIR. smile.gif

If your needing a second to SLI the time might be now. The EVGA GTX 560Ti 448 Classified was out of stock currently.

Check out the entire GTX 560Ti 448 series on Newegg.

I went to 850 and then 900 upping my voltage to 1.075 and furmark is still only using 50% of gpu1.

At the 800 oc both gpu's get a full load for roughly the first 100-300 frames and then gpu 1 drops down to 50% hence dropping my frames.

Anyone else experience this or no of a solution? gigabyte cards crap perhaps?
