So I've been lurking around this thread for a while, decided I'd share my experience so far with my 448 Classy.
Sapphire Radeon HD6870 (first one was DOA) started to artifact bad after 2 months. So I splurged and got the EVGA 448 Classy.
Immediately OC'ed it to 850/1700/2100 @ a stock voltage of 1.025.
Ran all the related tests I've been reading about on the thread (1st time Overclocker here); stable with no artifacts.
About 61XX in 3dMark11, I'm at work and don't have the exact numbers.
I played BF3 for a couple of hours at these settings, peaks of 100 FPS and a low of 55 (No AA), averaged around 70 @ 66 °C.
Ran Crysis 2 with the DX11 Ultra package and was getting around 50-60 Avg FPS.
Side note: I don't care at all how loud the fans are, I don't mind jet engines
Cooling: A cheap aftermarket fan/heatink on my CPU. 2 side panel case fans, 2 fans in the back, 1 up front, 1 on top, 1 on bottom. Only issue I see with heat is that my house is very
dusty and can build up rather quickly if I don't have canned air at the time .
So my question is, from a gaming and day to day use perspective, is it safe/worth overclocking the GPU more? I'm looking for a stable OC that I can run 24/7 without problems in the future. I also do plan on OC'ing my i7 in the future.
