GTX 560 Ti 448 core OC Club - Page 194

I have tested 296.10 and 301.10(modded inf). The performance is about the same.
http://3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/3127494/3dm11/3127752

Note, with 296.10 I was able to get 5mhz more OC than with 301.10. The performance difference is very small though. ~40 points.

I'll test the new beta driver tonight and post back.

What's considered the heat wall? And should I open it up and replace the TIM for temp gains?

Your card is fine. You just may not be able to OC it too high. As for "temp wall" anything under 99 is considered safe. I do not like to run over 80 though for a 24/7 oc. I do not think you will see a difference if you replace the TIM. The FTW cards are not a geared towards OC as the classy or the classy ultra.

Question for you guys here. I got 6 + 2 pin extenders for my cards. I figured that the cables on the PSU would plug directly into a 6 + 2 wire harness (8 pins of connections). However, cable extensions I have only have a 6 pin female harness at one end leaving the +2 pin connector from the PSU running no where. So then, if I use the extenders running from the end of the PSU cable I am really only getting the power from the 6 pin part of the cable from the PSU and running to the 8 pin connection on my card. This should not matter as it looks as if it is really more of an adapter, right? Now I am confusing myself. I is okay to run an 8 pin power from a 6+2 adapter. right? They would not make it if it was not okay. I could post pics tonight if that is not making sense.

It should be fine but had you noticed before you bought a real 8pin extension (not CPU) would've been better.

Is it going to affect performance? Thinking about getting the 8 pin cables.

That is a decent card but looking at the PCB it looks a little lacking in power phase ability.

Wouldn't be surprised if that card has a difficult time over clocking very high.

Could just be you have a slow GPU.

71C seem hot to me. I've got my MSI TF3 PE GTX560ti448 on water and it never gets hotter than low 40s when bench marking.

Didn't have issues installing the latest beta driver.
Max OC dropped 5MHz again. So 296.10 I was at 985mhz, 301.10 I was at 980, and the new 301.24 maxes at 975.
Performance looks to be about the same, and the only difference in 3dmarks is due to the drop in maximum OC ~100 points:

http://3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/3166926/3dm11/3127494

With that respect, the new drivers are not as good as the 296.10.

However, just because they score less in 3dmark, does not mean they're actually worse. I don't game much any more, so I can't speak to improved performance in games, but the new driver may very well just give better performance in real world applications.
