Shroud:
Seems like shroud might actually be making it run hotter... we'll see!

Well clocks are like 9% higher, so probably about 6-7% real world increase from the reference clocks of 732MHz. I'm interested to see the temperature different without the shroud, my guess is that there will be no change or even a temperature increase because the shroud tries to direct the air to the fin arrays. Be sure to run it for a good 15+ minutes to let it reach maximum temperature before taking a reading.

Just installed an Accelero Xtreme Plus II on my Classified 448 (non-Ultra). I must say I'm really impressed with this cooler.

  • Classified Cooler [36C Idle] [68C Load (benchmarking)] [58% Fan]
  • AXP II [28C Idle] [56C Load (benchmarking)] [46% Fan]

The part I'm most happy about is the fan noise on the AXP II under load (46% fan) sounds as the Classified on idle (33%fan). With the Classified I can definitely notice the fan at 55%. That was a sore spot for me with this card, the fan was loud and the shroud seemed pretty flimsy.

There were no modifications needed - the cooler just fits perfectly (takes 3 slots). I saw somewhere that wasn't the case with vanilla 448's but the fins can be removed easily with nose pliers if there's any obstruction. There's a new AXP III coming out but I thought this was a better deal at $60 over the $120 new version.

Doing stress testing and I modified my fan arrangements. I'm now at around 73C constant load and I'm not getting auto-quits from my OC's artifact scanner... so I'm guessing around 80C is where you start seeing artifacts? redface.gif

In anycase, excellent! I can push my FTW higher assuming I keep it cool.
I'll throw on the shroud once I find my max without it wink.gif

With one card I was able to get 950 at 1.08 something. With SLI it is taking 1.15 for 950.

Shroud off is cooler. I put it back on, temps went up to 75C and I'm getting artifacts @ 930 and 920. Going to take it off (gotta freaking take the whole card out)

and try again.

1050mhz on core and 2200mhz on memory works great with my card with only 1.1v.

34,000+ 3dmark06 benchmark with these settings.

My stable 24/7 OC settings are 900/1800/2100 +100mV. Runs very cool too (highest I saw in torture test was 60C, gaming ~55C), Twin Frozr III and a huge 200mm side fan helps biggrin.gif

Have you tried higher memory? I gain performance up to 2450mhz memory...

How do you reapply TIM on these things? They're so huge!!! CPU = spread but these are like. yes. ... and I think me replacing the GOBS of stock TIM there didn't improve my temperatures that much...

I used THIS as a model.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1228495/msi-hawk-gtx-560-ti-tim-reapplication/0_100#post_16726995

Didn't seem like it changed much.
Shroud's coming off for sure though, it hit 86C when I 3dmark11'd it. Gonna 3dmark it with the shroud off when I get back home.

3dmark11 GPU score
6060 overall
