GTX 560 Ti 448 core OC Club - Page 255

Got up to 905Mhz at 1.1v stable. Looking around it seems like I don't have the greatest clocker but I am extremely happy with this dcuII cooler as the card never reaches 60 degrees below 50% fan speed. If I want to go past 1.1v, I am guessing my warranty on the card would end after a voltmod but I am satisfied where its at now.

Has anyone tried running guild wars 2 with this card? I partook in the last couple stress tests and got wonky performance dipping into the high 20's with everything maxed. Backed shadows down to medium and reflections on sky and terrain and it didn't dip below the 30's but mostly I was getting around 35 fps.

After applying 305.67 the fps has improved to a more stable 40-ish, but I noticed that the game doesn't even utilize 70% of my card. Whats up with that? And these beta drivers are supposed to be optimized for guild wars 2.

edit: AND this is with the card clocked at 905mhz, there isn't a big (or even noticeable, I need to play the game more) performance gain from stock to overclock. Running 960t at 4ghz as well.

Can you elaborate? The CPU is bottlenecking me in this game, really?

Your cpu is about as fast as a 4-5 year old Core2Quad.

You are of course right but I didn't realize guild wars 2 is heavily unoptimized. There is no way a 4 core processor is bottlenecking this card if each core is being used, and it seems like the game only runs off 2 and just wants clock speeds.

99% of games even today still only use two cores.

The 960t is fine at that overclock. I had a 955BE overclocked to 4.0 and it was able to handle Crysis 1.0 and Warhead. There are few games that really push a cpu, GTIV comes to mind, but all will do fine on a quad core, even a Phenom II quad.

I don't think that cpu is bottle-necking a 560 448. Maybe a gtx 670/670/7970/690/7990. I had no issues running a 4870x2 + 4870 with the 955BE and I later upgraded to two 470s at 850 core each they were fine.

Best way to know is through the gpu usage. If the cpu is at max and your gpu is not at max on an intensive application/benchmark/game, then its a cpu bottle neck.

Oh, some ppl would say there wasn't much of a difference between BD and the older Phenom in terms of gaming for the majority of situations out there.

I see the thread is still alive and kicking smile.gif

Had my MSI GTX 560Ti 448 PE Twin Frozr III around 7 months now, and Ive had zero problems.

I have 3 profiles in MSI-AB.

P1: Stock Clocks.
P2: 850/2000 @ Stock voltage
P3: Overclocked: 1.1v GPU Voltage / Stock is 0.975v
+125Mv (core) +20Mv (Aux) get's me to 950 core 1900 shader.
+20Mv (Mem) get's me to 2290MHz memory clock.
Temps stay at 60c max with fan speed between 45%-60% depending on room temp.

I still have more voltage to apply and can probably get close to 1GHz but am happy as it is and it performs great. I mainly use profile 3 for gaming in 3D Vision.. 850/200 eats through 98% of today's games in 2D. My MSI is one of the best purchases i have made for my PC for a good while. The performance boost when overclocking this card is immense.

Es

My maximum on stock volts is also 850 core. My stock voltage is 0.975 GPU Voltage (MSI PE)

Interesting, my first two cards are at 966Mv and the third at 988Mv. Could be why the first two don't reach anything higher than 935 at 966Mv. I did check the TPU review and it shows 0.98V (Could be 988Mv).

When I get a chance, I'll clock the first one on its own at 988Mv and see if I can break 850 biggrin.gif

Ok after that debacle a few pages ago it's been going smoothly (apart from a few more times where the display cut out and I reset cmos everytime biggrin.gif). Was stuck at 1.1v so I flashed bios to raise to 1.213v, now sitting at 950/1900 1.113v temps max out at 63c OC scanner. Should I keep pushing? I'm hesitant cause Gigabyte stuck with the 4+2 phase vrm, not sure I want anything blowing up...
