You can see in my rig my Asus P6T SE mobo with the i7 920(2.66), and that POS cooler on top. I idle at 50C, which I feel is high, especially under load. And way to high to overclock. I wanted to OC it to a bit, 3.6 or something hopefully.
My issue is I screwed my self over with three 4gig sticks of Vengeance ram. 450
Which is tall as hell and even hits the fan on my cooler I have now, and you can see I have it moved over a slot.
So my question is: is there a cooler out there that maybe someone else with this board has found works? Or is this cooler safe to put a mild OC on?

Get this.

Has everything you need and you will see it is not that much more than the Corsair product. Only thing you will need is distilled water. Plus, it can grow with your system. You can GPU water cooling etc. I am a noob to water cooling and had no trouble getting this installed. If your case does not have room inside, it has all the hardware needed to mount to the back of your case.

No need to mess with air....

With the kit I listed above I sit at 20C with 4.8 OC on i5 2500k idle. Stays right between 59 to 60 C on all 4 cores with Max load on it. That i7 runs a little hotter. Guessing about 25C idle and 65 - 70 max.... That all depends on your OC and the amount of juice you are throwing at it. Temps will be lower if you stay at stock.

Does the rad use 120mm fan mounts?
And what about going with the H80 since it has a push/pull which can reach about 5C above those temps from what I'm reading, and it's less than $100?
I don't have much room outside my case since it sits in a cubby, and I transport it around a lot.

EDIT: I don't know yet how much I want to OC my 2.66 920, I would be happy with whatever gives me the best performance gain without risking damage to the chip.

Ok back on topic haha, thanks for the input eveyone biggrin.gif

I don't know what is causing this reoccurring crash in BF3 with my current settings of 925/1850/2100 @ 1.038V. Everytime I start a match I will crash to desktop with no errors, BF3 just locks up, so I end task it. I start a new match immedietely and I can play for hours on end with no problems.
It's not too much of an issue, but I wonder what could cause something like that to happen.

Most likely requires more Voltage to run it at that clock.

Yeah, it is 120 MM. H100 would do fine too. Cost is about the same...

Does this BF3 issue happen even if the card is not OC? I have seen a lot of people with issues on the game....

Agreed. Bump it to 1.05 or even 1.068. Mine was stable at 1.038 (900/1800/1950) and I bumped up to 1.05 just to have plenty of power. Heat did not change at all. Once I get my CPU OC stable again I will go for 925 on the GPU.

I'll try the voltage bump. The problem is to get the problem to occur again I have to not play the game or let the computer sit for a long period of time. It's almost like the GPU has to warm up...

Well I really like the input from the members in this club because without it I wouldn't have found this review:

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/48843-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-448-roundup-evga-gigabyte-msi.html

There really isn't a huge difference with these GPUs but clearly the EVGA is the winner in this case. So once again thank you for the advice and I will take it under advisement. I won't be doing a build for a little bit because I have hit a financial bump in the road so I get to see all the new tech coming out this year. I will be able to see all the benchies and what folks say about them here and base my final build list on that. Thanks guys you have been a real help. thumb.gif
