GTX 560 Ti 448 core OC Club - Page 67

Looky, looky, what I've got. Just finished it and will do some oc'ing tomorrow. I know on a single monitor setup it should rock but I now have 3 so we will see. I think the 1.2gb of vram might not be enough for what I want. If that's the case then I will have to deal with it cause I am flat broke now. Here are a couple pics.
Thanks

Hi all, just picked up a MSI GTX560Ti 448 OC yesterday. It's a huge upgrade from my old GTX260 216 but I have a few questions regarding OC.

I tried 850Core/1100Mem and it was stable in most games (BC2, Witcher2, Trackmania United) but I got crashing to desktop in Saints Row 3. So I lowered OC abit to 800Core/1050Mem and it seems better. What do you guys think, is this the best my chip can do or my PSU isn't enough to sustain higher OC? I read everywhere that MSI 448's are capable of way higher OC than what I got, so maybe it's my PSU? I will be updating PSU either way but not for another few weeks or month.

I have Antec 550W PSU, it provides 54A on 12V, so that must be plenty for 448 which needs like 40A, also I have a i5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz, 5 HDDs. PSU is 4+ years old now and I'm aware of PSU degradation but still I'm not 100% sure if it's my PSU to blame or GPU chip.

Glottis, these numbers don't look right. Stock memory clock on those cards is 1950mhz, I believe, same as my EVGA. Maybe you are talking about the shader clock? Still wouldn't be right, though, it should be synced to twice the core clock. Something like 800/1600/1950.

Anyway, I didn't notice much improvement by OC'ing the memory. I'm currently running 850/1700/1950 @ 1.05v. Stock VID is 1.063v on my card.

Is this on stock voltage and what program are you using? If this is on stock voltage I would say your right in the neighborhood. You said you went from 850 to 800 so technically you could be stable at 830.
Either way more voltage is needed for higher clocks so I would use MSI Afternurner (the newest beta release) and make sure the voltage is checked in the settings. Create a custom fan profile then only bring the core/shader up until it faisl. The bring the voltage up until it's stable. The do the same again with the core/shader. You go back and fourth until your where you want to be. Memory is usually oc'ed low averaging around a 5% oc. Anymore you may become unstable. You can use GPUZ to check your % of oc by clicking the validate tab.

I'm using the latest MSI Afterburner beta. I don't want to toy around with voltages on my current PSU because I think it can barely sustain my system as is, so for now I'll stick with 800gpu/2000mem

Just an FYI for anyone sli'ing these bad boys. DISABLE AERO cause it makes a huge difference on gpu usage. I found this by accident and oh boy does it make a difference especially running 3 monitors in nvidia surround.

Hmmmmm interesting. Wonder if this holds true when benchmarking? Never even thought about that. I only have a single monitor but might give this a try see if it gives any improvement. smile.gif

You can configure that on a per app basis, EX, I set it so Aero disables when BF3 loads.
