You need to calm down people.
The anand link shows that the majority of times HD6970 did beat the GTX 570.

According to this link:-
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/292?vs=306

Lets compare the HD6970 relatively to the GTX 570 :-

Crysis Warhead :
2560x1600 => +15%
1920x1200 => +14.3%

Crysis Warhead (Minimum Framerates) :
2560x1600 => +14.7%
1920x1200 => +25.7%
1680x1050 => +12.2%

1920x1200 => +5.9% (Chase Bench)
1680x1050 => +7.5% (Chase Bench)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R CS :
2560x1600 => +8.6%
1920x1200 => +4.5%
1680x1050 => +5.8%

How about you guys understand that the 570 and 6970 trade blows depending on the game and both have pros and cons.

the 570 might have performed a little bit better on DH's own tests and this is why they mark it as better than a 6970. Whatever the situation is the differences between the cards are so small that claiming that the article is untrustworthy because of that one insignificant piece of the article is pretty stupid.

Who cares about 570 vs 6970? They are equal cards, and some people prefer one over the other. That is all that needs to be said, and no one cares. Stop flaming. All I care about is when the 7000 series is coming out. I am not an AMD fanboy, I am an impatient fanboy, and since AMD comes first, they win! Unless, they are not as good as advertised, then Tri Sli 580's at 350/ea is tempting.

The link was to show comparative performance... And also you need to realize AMD struggles almost unanimously in all DX11 games. Batman, BF3, Crysis 2.... DX9 seems to work a little better with the 6970 compared to the 570.....I don't have a dog in this fight so I'm dropping out... I only own a 580 Classified. I went from cf 6970s to sli 570 and also 580 classified sli before finally settling with only 1x 580 Classy....

Obviously the most important dilemma discuses in relation to the upcoming new 7 series from AMD is whether 570 is better than 6970.

Every card have it pros and cons, in a case of 570/6970 they are trading blows more of then than not, with 6970 slightly ahead. What fanboys here don't get is that performance of a card depends on the RESOLUTION, SETTINGS and believe it or not actual GAMES, so 570 will be superior for someone with favorable setup and games and vice verse for 6970.

One would thing that of all the people PC enthusiasts should know that there is no absolutes when there so many variables that affect final outcome, variables that changes on per user basis.

It all depends in the resolution. If you are @ 1080 and having GTX580 SLI then thats stupid. I am @ 1440p and still HD 6970 is enough for almost all the game i play including BF3 which i get 50fps in ultra.

Compared to how the 6000 series were priced, they are expensive.

6850 = 179 vs 7850 = 199
6870 = 239 vs 7870 = 299

1gb 6950 = 259
2gb 6950 = 299 vs 7950 = 399
6970 = 369 vs 7970 = 499

It was @1600p...I was spending too much money on a "gaming" setup in my opinion. We're talking $1800 in gpus alone. Add in a +1,000 Dell monitor and you have a recipe for one pissed off wife lmao:D I actually made a nice profit selling the extra cards on eBay, so it turned out ok I guess.

Should be considerably faster than a GTX 580.
I'd guess 25+% if not more.
Even the HD 7950 should be faster or at least tie the GTX 580 seeing how it has 1920 streaming processors and double the amount of ROPs and Texture Units than the HD 6970.
I can certainly see the new top end single-GPUs positioned between the GTX 580 and the current dual-GPU cards in terms of performance.

Are you taking into account the new architecture?

Not only do you get significantly more stream processors, but each ALU can do considerably more work.

With that in mind, I expect the 79x0 to trade blows with the last-gen dualies while consuming significantly less power.

This should come as no shock to anyone, it has always been this way.
