Puzzled on core voltage and turbo boost voltage for i5 2500k - Page 2

When you set voltage in bios and you have turbo. At idle the CPU will idle at 1600MHz and draw very little power. But under load is what voltage you get from bios. Although it isn't going to be exact voltage either. If I set 1.38v bios I get 1.36v load 1.376v idle (but I have turbo enabled so it runs at 5 24/7). Now if I run normal where I idle low at 1600MHz I will idle at .96v but under load I do 1.36v

Yah, it's the readings from core temp that threw me off. At load it would show the cpu running at 1.36 volts regardless what I set the core voltage in the bios to. Core temp just doesn't read right.

im getting the same issue with Coretemp showing the correct frequency as well, no matter what i do, it tells me its running at 3.6.... whether its clocked to 4, or sitting at stock 3.3

not meaning to hijack the thread, but just wanted to say that, and thanks! was just about to ask a similar question and this answered it all for me....

Personally I'd just turn c1E, Eist back on and overclock using turbo like everyone else.
