Now I'm not saying that profanity should be thrown around completely unhampered but this is just ridiculous. Also Orgin is hardly the only place this is happening as IMO even here on OCN the limit of what is considered to profane is on the sensitive side. Does it really mater that much to people that instead of using the normal s-word is say for example that Orgin in my opinion is a steaming pile of "chocolate". I think evryone still got what I was saying.
Just my 2cents.gif

The whole point is that profanity makes you lose credibility.

I too have had infractions on this very site for profanity and offensive remarks. It happens, we all (well most of us) lose control from time to time. Then afterwards I look at the post and feel like an idiot because whilst what I was saying was correct, the way I went about it was quite frankly embarrassing.

There should be no reason what so ever to use profanity, it's unprofessional and it doesn't help. There are many ways to shoot down ignorance and arrogance without having to use profanity.

Often times in real life I use profound language, and often it is on a subconscious level. I've been with my girlfriend 4 years now and I've heard her swear maybe a handful of times, and every time it has shocked me, mostly because I'm not used to her using those words but also because it's unattractive. Then it makes me think of how much of an idiot I look when I use it frequently.

I do agree that profanity is common place these days and often there is no intended insult behind it. However I still don't think companies and websites should advocate its use, especially a place like OCN which is striving for a professional environment. A game, well I don't really know, it's easy to swear in the heat of the moment and I guess you will never be able to prevent that.

But... I've been tested and I don't have STDs. So, I think you got them from someone besides Steam.

Hell, I can see why you guys could be pissed off about EA resurrecting franchises that have been dead for over 15 years as a popular genre to make money(No I can't, lol), but there isn't any excuse to make freely available mods "official" and attach a dollar sign to them.

Once again you have side-skirted around the points made in retaliation to your own and continued to make no further points, followed by stating your paranoid opinions.

Why do you keep posting here when you are just being outclassed and outsmarted time and time again? (You are too young to understand without me blatantly pointing out that the question I just asked was rhetorical. (Does not require an answer.))

Because THAT is forcing you just as bad as EA with Battlefield 3 and Origin. I see so many people complain about how much they love Steam and think it's such a great platform, yet Origin, which does the EXACT same thing is bad because it's from a different company.
EA probably has some of the best support I've used. Their chat service has always helped me with any issues, they've reset my activation limits (which frankly, I don't understand why any of you wouldn't do the same), unlocked my DLC problems with Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition and even have given me a free game when my issue with Bulletstorms activation were horrid (Mostly having to do with GFWL related issues). When my account was hijacked trough steam it took them almost 3 days to respond, meanwhile I risked the possibility of my account being banned for ANY number of reasons they see justified and even if you had all the proof in the world the ability to reverse a VAC ban is apparently "out of their control" I mean really? Someones account gets hijacked, banned (And if you read their forums, it's happened many times before) and they lose access to hundreds spent on YOUR service? How does that many any sense?
Let's create a system that's supposedly "perfect" where someones account can still be hijacked but we can't reverse it at all! Brilliant!
I honestly wonder what Valve was thinking with the VAC system in place where the whole purpose of it's creation can still get your account banned.

Steam has my trust. What have they done that is anywhere near as bad as all the crap EA has pulled over the years?

I don't like the idea of having to be connected to the Internet all the time to play my games and I WILL NOT buy games that require that. Your assertion that Steam requires an always on Internet connection is completely false.

First of all lets say you have an unexpected Internet loss. You can still launch and play your games for 3 months, 90 days, before you have to reconnect. If you download your games and then put Steam into Offline mode you NEVER have to reconnect to play your games. You only have to reconnect if you want to buy new games or download games in your library that you don't have installed.

Steam is awesome, Valve is awesome, and this is coming from someone who will never use Origin, will never buy Diablo 3 because it requires an always on Internet connection, and haven't bought any games published by Ubisoft in two years, even games I've wanted, b/c they use the always on DRM.

I don't know where you guys come from who try and insist that Valve is just as "evil" as EA. They have demonstrated time and time again that they listen to the community and try to meet their needs. EA has shown time and time again they want to sell units and the community can go hang for all they care. They do horrible, quasi-legal things like denying customers access to games they paid for because of a criticism they posted on their forum. When they get caught they lie about it, resume the practice, and when they get called on it again the only thing they say is that they are "looking into it".

EA sucks and I have ZERO trust for them, same goes for Activision, same goes for Ubisoft. They have squandered any trust I had in their companies long ago with lies and broken promises and insults to top it off. Valve may have made a few mistakes here and there but they are upfront with the users, and try meet their needs.

EDIT: I see you say that EA chat support always resets your activations. See how far we have come? Instead of being mad that they even have activation limits you are happy that they have allowed you to reinstall a game you PAID for! That is hilarious. No Valve game EVER has had activation limits.

Just a comment on the unprofessionalism of profanity, as it's been called...

Not every conversation is a professional conversation. It's often casual. And if you've ever been in the Marines... F-bombs are the most professional word in the English language!!! True story.

Why doesn't someone just read the EULA and look up grounds for ban, and then pull what the dude who sued google for 500b did.

I made my point multiple times and even addressed it here. Everyone here acts like Valve is their friend. They are a business before they are your friend and they are only as good as "that friend" that's unreliable.

Ok Che Gueverra, you go lead them rebels you smile.gif

...I don't understand why people who haven't worked in the real world feel it's their responsibility to judge the merits of companies they know nothing about. Schools should teach a class in "Humble" and another in "No you don't know everything upon making it past the 9th grade 101"

The situation remains the same. We have verifiable proof against all of Origins wrong doings at this point, as well as EA addressing the game bans in response to forum issues.

However, every Steam offense you have brought up have been things you pulled out of thin air, link the story to the guy losing thousands, bro.

Also, all those "Mods" you listed from Valve surpass the quality of anything EA has made in my book tongue.gif Team Fortress>EA.

No one has said anything about worshipping Steam, and that they're the best of buddies with Valve. Yet another unsubstantiated claim.

All we are merely saying is that since Steam's conception it has a proving track record for reliability and stability. Sure, their customer service needs some major work but no company is perfect.

Again, I would like to point out that Steam has very rarely done anything substantially wrong that hits the headlines. Origin has been out for under a year and it's track record for stability is in the dumps. Hands up who trusts Ea after these stunts?.....It must be pretty lonely over there on your own.

We're not saying Steam isn't going to screw us over, but all we have to go by is historical data and by that data alone it shows that Steam is a very stable platform and Origin is erratic at best.

Furthermore, you come into this thread throwing your weight around and even by the 10th page you hadn't even managed to figure out the exact nature of the thread. You presumed the guy had swore, and you had no idea that it was another persons wrong doings that he got persecuted for. What are you even doing in here other than trying to annoy people?

If you can't even grasp the threads actual topic, what's the point in even trying to have a discussion with you?

Good day, sir.
