And you should stop trying to defend EA/Origin while you're at it.

I hate both of them! I hate having RETAIL games FORCING STEAM upon ME! You are all so deluded against EA that you don't realize Valve is just as bad and have shown they're about the money just as much as EA have. Just because Valve has a good PR department doesn't squat to me.

*opens Google*

Any form of piracy is against the TOS and if you bought the game then good for you. You ain't ever gonna bypass Origin because it's tied to Origin period. Like how some games are tied to Steam and you cannot bypass it. I for one think it would be nice to be able to not use Origin and just launch the game via browser cuz i would feel much comfortable loggin in without automatic login and entering the browser to see your stats and server eh? Feels funny not being able to do that but i think the security lies between Origin and the browser itself thus loading your game serial and etc allowing you to automatically login battlelog. I hate that. I RATHER login a secure channel without HAVING to use Origin.

I have no complaints but i honestly think Dice would had less problems if they never used Origin in the first place. Plus why use a browser for gaming anyways? Why not ingame browsing? As much i am liking the new patch but i am very disappointed how aircrafts are paper weight now o.o

The truth is, everyone is still going to buy and play EA games.

You have a choice whether or not you want to support a company. I think Steam is pretty convenient for what it tries/does achieve, but just because i don't mind Steam i should not mind Origin? Err, no it doesn't work that way...

I don't know what your experiences are with the service industry but just because 2 (or more) companies offer the same/similar service, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the same quality of service. EA have proven over the years time and again that they will do whatever it takes to maximize profits with little regard for the community...

Anyway... I too would prefer not having to use Steam, but i don't limit myself to Steam. Between Steam, GOG, Xbox/XBL, and those indie/low-budget/old retail games that have no DRM, and all those online games there's a lot to choose from. I don't like what EA has to offer. None of their products currently appeal to me and the way they treat the community is pretty crappy too...

EDIT: And another thing... Obviously Valve are in it for the money. If they were struggling, i can promise you they'd be pumping out alot more titles than they currently are tongue.gif

Steam doesn't stop anything from being hacked. That's why SmartSteam exists.... Dead Island is one of the most popular games on Tunngle.

Yet another reason why EA is a terrible group. I'm not even going to call them a company since they can't act maturely enough to run a forum let alone a game developers wing. tongue.gif Pathetic EA. Truly pathetic.

Don't give me this crap. Steam is as much of a Trojan Horse as Origin, they are both crap at everything they try to accomplish.

When I buy a retail game I expect to work as a retail game should. I wanted to play Civilization 5. I didn't have a choice in the matter of how I wanted to play it, I needed steam. I wanted to play Deus Ex Human Revolution. I didn't have a choice on how I wanted to play it. I wanted to play Fallout New Vegas, Dead Island, Borderlands, Metro 2033. All these games I bought RETAIL this year forced the likes of *STEAM* upon me! I never asked for Steam and you all have this Stockholm syndrome around Valve/Steam holding your property hostage that you've just come to accept it.

I tend to support EA more-so because they are one of the few companies that actually put time into porting to the PC. Can't even say the same about Valve, everything they've done using the PC these years looks like someone generated from 2004. Oh wait, because it is!
