BF3 stutter for a frame every second

Hi guys,

Last week I started playing BF3 and I've been using the "render.perfoverlayvisible 1" command to check for bottleneck.
As you can see from the 2 attached screenshots, the cpu (yellow) spikes and does a pattern every 1 second or so.
This is noticeable ingame as a skipped frame which is seen as jerking motion.

Currently using LOW DETAIL on native 1080p resolution with Catalyst 11.10 driver.
Task manager shows around 65-80% cpu usage, gpu-z shows 95%+ usage with no fluctuation in clockspeed.
I have tested the resolution down to 640x480 fullscreen and got 70+ to 110+ fps with highest 140-190 when looking at a boring corner.
When 640x480 the spikes continue to appear on the graph at the same timely intervals but they are now a small notch and no jerk noticeable ingame.

This morning I've uninstalled an outdated program called AMD dual-core-optimizer which I tried to fix other old game but it unfortunately have no effect on my BF3 problem.
Added bf3.exe and the origin games folder into my anti-virus exceptions and even turning off the anti-virus did not solve it.

Could this be related to my graphic card's tiny 512mb memory ?
Please help me as I am really at my wit's end with no solution found on Google.
Thank you for your time.

Go into task manager and close absolutely all processes but windows core components and bf3 and origin. Tell us if you see any difference.

Just tried that together with GameBooster3 to close all the unneeded processes, no effect on BF3 problem. frown.gif

Does it happen at those perfect intervals if you stay in the same game location? I would think that if you stay in the same spot the card would not have to load new textures, so if it still happens, the mem size shouldn't be the issue.

Yup it happens even when I'm looking at the Out-of-Bounds area of the map with no houses no vehicles no trees.
First post second screenshot I landed a helicopter behind the caspianborder US base runway which is just plain grass.

This low end card have a feature which allow it to use 1gb+ of system memory DDR3 so I suspect it might be getting trashed around wildly.

Performance Tip for AMD GPU users for stutter/lag
Microstuttering and laggy playback is an all-too-known issue with any gaming system, and some good people on the net have come up with a possible issue with AMD installs:

AMD installs a service to write to the Event Log called ATIeRecord. If your event logs are huge and/or fragmented, then this service will record while you are gaming, and the recording lag from bad fragmented system files will hammer your performance with lags and stutters.

regedit down the tree

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atierecord]
"eRecordEnable"=dword:00000000

Set value 1 to 0 and Disable the service (edit: then reboot pc)

Hmmm seems like it's my wrong interpretation of that feature.
It's a pagefile that can't be turned off.

Just tried that and rebooted.
Didn't solve the problem yet.

2 things I noticed is, when flying jet it jerks the plane backwards.
When running on the ground it skips a frame and I get pushed forward.

Did you try manually ending processes without Gamebooster? Just use windows task manager and make sure you don't have any of your favorite programs running in the background. You don't need gamebooster to do that. Make sure you have the essential programs running. If you don't know what process to remove just post pics of your windows task manager process tab (as you will probably need more then one) and the folks here will tell you. I'm talking about the process from all users.

Also keep in mind that BF3 does need a pagefile and it can influence the performance of this game. There are still other variables like OS type, ram etc. But I have to ask you what do you have your page file set for? Can you also post a pic of that as well? J
-Control Panel
-System and Security
-System
-Advance system settings on the left
-Under Advance tab, Click on Settings from Performance section
-Advance tab...again
-Click on the Change button

Sounds like you're teleporting. It might be a high ping or otherwise bad connection to the server. Are you playing in servers on your continent?

Go start>run> type cmd>enter> ping google.com

What's it say?
