If you don't know what process to remove just post pics of your windows task manager process tab (as you will probably need more then one) and the folks here will tell you. I'm talking about the process from all users.

Also keep in mind that BF3 does need a pagefile and it can influence the performance of this game. There are still other variables like OS type, ram etc. But I have to ask you what do you have your page file set for? Can you also post a pic of that as well? J
-Control Panel
-System and Security
-System
-Advance system settings on the left
-Under Advance tab, Click on Settings from Performance section
-Advance tab...again
-Click on the Change button
-Pic of Virtual Memory Screen
My pagefile is on default "let my computer manage automatically" and system set 4095mb

Tried to manually close a dozen services under task manager, did not solve the problem.

Yes it happens in SinglePlayer too.

The graph shows the spike in yellow (CPU) but switching the graphic settings between Low & Ultra seem to influence the spike pattern.
Even when the game is paused in video settings page Im getting the spikes.

Do you see this in any other games? Do you have another game that has similar gpu demand?

You need to click on the button "show processes from all users" in the process tab of win task manager. But I do have to ask why you are using Trixx if you say you removed all that stuff? Remove that too. Before removing any services show a pic of everything (may need more then 1 pic). Again showing all the processes.

I suggest that you temporary disable Avast! to see if that's the cause of the spikes. You can read this link on how. You do that at your own risk!

Trixx is needed for my graphic card OC as CCC have limit of 850/1050 mhz for Core&Memory
Just followed that URL and turned off Avast's self-defence module, didn't solve the problem

There isn't much games I have that aren't console-port.
GTA IV works fine with low framerate, TeamFortress2 and Left4Dead2 runs smooth above 60fps.

Tested BF3 in resized window mode, seems like when it goes beyond a certain surface area the spikes begin to grow from a notch to full size

On the third screenshot I tried a mission with the tiny 400x200 screen and the spikes do exist.
With V-sync on the graphic card start to get performance spikes beyond the capped 60fps

Insufficient graphic ram for such a big DX11 title ?

My vote is yes, but it would be a shame to drop $$$ on a new card and still have the problem. A 6850 or 6870 would be go nicely with what you have...

Online deals section had cheap 5870s the other day...

I have this same problem and i don't think it comes from your video card.
My Specs.

GA-970A-ud3
AMD Fx-4100 oc @ 4.10ghz
Corsair H50 CPU Cooler
Evga GTX 560 SC 1GB
Silverstone 650w PSU
12GB kingston-hyper x RAM

After Upgrading from 4gb to 12gb 80% of my stutter went away as i was getting hard faults with 4gb of ram. Now i am getting cpu spikes and
skips and i am not sure how to solve this problem. I have tried numerous video drivers and tweaks and still no solution. My other games run fine. batman arkham city,css,bf:bc2. I even get this in SP and my system is not weak. Any new ideas to as why this might be???

No you don't need trixx to run BF3. Disable, uninstall it, or whatever to keep it from running. Run the game using CCC clock rate at default. That's the point of removing all unnecessary processes. The pic you've shown doesn't provide all processes. If you don't click on show processes from all users button how do you know what processes are running?

Suggestions:
-Use Cat 11.11a
-Use IE instead of chrome

Note:
I would like to know if you still have AMD drivers installed on your PC after you uinstall your current drivers. You can check by uninstalling your current drivers, reboot. At desktop open up Device Manager. Click on the Display Adapter and post what it reads. If it still reads AMD/ATI 5670 or something similar then you may need to remove that driver before you install Cat 11.11a.
