Hmmm... cards.. decisions. Help me out :<

Alright, a lot of toughts going in and out, but really got no idea what to do to make a "bargain" here.

Currently got: 1x GTX 480

Was going to buy another and finally go SLI, then bam, the 500 series came out, and the 480 cards are impossible to get over now. They are almost more expensive than the 580 cards, looking over eBay and such. sadsmiley.gif 580+480 SLI=Grrr... nVidia.

What I am going to buy this Christmas is:

Another 480, which is literally hell to get.

A 580? Any opinions? I sure can't find any.

Or just get robbed, and get the 590; if it's even worth the trouble.

Any experiences? How does the 480 SLI run; 580 SLI; what about the 590? Just been reading around that the 590 doesn't run that well with the current drivers and so on? Well, the 480 never got any good drivers yet.

I could go for ATI, and do a bargain, but now that I finally got my third 3D Vision Ready Monitor, I'd really like to use my 3D Kit and finally go full 3D Vision.

Any suggestions? :<<br /> *Hugs*

I think you should get a 580 and sell your 480 right now while the prices are high and they are hard to find because some one else is looking for that card in a couple of months it will not be worth as much. When its time to upgrade in a couple years the 480 cards are going to be selling for less (used) then the 580's. Sell the 480 and get a 580 maybe latte get 2 580's although I do not think you will need 2.

I will somehow get 2x GPUs anyway. So, buy x2 580, and sell the 480? What about "f* it" and just go for the 590?

Thanks.

Dont grab a 590, 2 x 580s or 2x480s would be better, since it is almost impossible to find 480s, you should be able to sell yours for a good price and grab a 580 replacement for minimal losses, and then you can grab another 580 smile.gif

Thanks.

In my opinion sell the GTX480 and buy 2x GTX580's

The GTX590 is EOL (End Of Life) so i certainly wouldn't shell out that much money for that card, if you get issues the likelyhood of a replacement is slim since stocks are almost non existant now.

Okay. Thanks for all the replies.

Any specific 580 card to get? Brand/OC'ed/Cooled, whatever?

Got a high budget so an extra 100$ or whatever doesn't matter.

Any water coolers out for the 480/580s? Tired of the stock fans. Grrr.

Grab 2 x 3GB GTX 580s, and of course you can water cool them. Just buy the block separately. Otherwise you are paying an arm and a leg.

These EVGA cards are reference, so the reference waterblocks fit on them.

Thanks for a great informative reply, I'll take EVGA into consideration.

However, you mean buy two reference cards that are a lot cheaper than the "Zomg OC Editions - Phantom" or some fancy names? Looked at those, it's like another $150 just for those additional fans, or factory OC'ed.

So two reference cards, seperate custom cooling, put it together, boot and bam? smile.gifrolleyes.gif

Well I got the intention that you were going to do a custom water cooled loop, so grabbing factory overclocked cards will not matter. It is more beneficial to just grab reference cards and overclock them yourself, since they are easy to find waterblocks for.
