Well I got the money but I'm just wondering if I should upgrade or If I should wait until Ivy bridge comes out.

What is your current CPU. What are you using your pc for. What is your budget.

My budget is 2500k price range, I'm stepping up from my old athlon 64 x2 5400 so it will be a huge upgrade non the less.
I'm going to be using it for mostly gaming and some recording.

DO IT. Just make sure you buy a GEN3 motherboard so that you are ready for Ivybridge when it arrives or when you can afford to upgrade (if it turns out to be worthwhile) I came from an AMD 1090T hex core and still saw a huge improvement.....coming from an old x2 chip will be outstanding.

Personally I'd get the 2500k. I did, and I don't regret it at all, hit 4.6ghz easy. If you decide to go IB, the Gen 3 motherboards support it so you'll be fine.

Gen 3's are certain Ivy Bridge compatible motherboards because IB is needed to use PCI-E 3.0. Most P67 and Z68 mobo's will support IB, though it is up to the manufacturer to release a compatible bios update.

Went from a x4 955 and I'm loving it. Was able to hit 4.3GHz by just changing the multiplier.
Seeing large frame rate increases in most games, especially BF3 and anything that is lowly threaded. If coming from an PII x4 I'm seeing frame rate improvements, you will absolutely.

I'd get the 2500k. Just can't beat the price/performance. It's 149 at microcenter too minus $60 off with compatible motherboard. It cost me $216 for a 2500k and z68 motherboard. Insane.

I say do it.

If IB ends up being amazing, sell the 2500k and pop in the new chip. Easy peasy
