First build few Questions :)

Hey all,

As tittle says im going to be building my first pc and i have a questions but first here is the spec

Mobo: ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3, P67 (B3)
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400, 4x 3.10GHz
Memory: Undecided
GFX: GTX 560 ti
PSU: Nexus 850W

As a first time builder im unsure of What memory i can use with the mobo i have chosen

I know it supports DDR3 up to 2133

1. Maybe a retard question but are those slots for the ram on the mobo 240pins ?

2. This is the Memory ive been looking at http://geizhals.at/deutschland/706237 The problem is the Product number on that ram (CMZ8GX3M2A2133C11R)
Is not on the Motherboards Memory support list ( http://www.asrock.com/mb/memory.asp?Model=P67%20Extreme4%20Gen3 ) so the questions is Will the ram not work with this mobo ?

Thanks for the help gav.

1. Yes
2.I'm not sure how picky the P67 motherboard is ,but in my experience I have been able to use any and all kinds of DDR3 with no problems on my motherboard. Although YMMV on this one. ,but I suggest going with the Motherboard's supported list just to be safe and not run into troubles when you build.

Also why not go for a i5-2500k? So you can overclock in the future.

If the Vengeance don't suit then I would say go with the G.Skill , I also agree with bom about the 2500k as you might want to try OC'n in the near future.
PSU seems a bit overkill unless your gonna slot in another GPU and I personally would go for another brand like Corsair ,OCZ or Seasonic.

Whats your budget and what country will you be buying , Germany?

Oh and welcome biggrin.gif

the 2500k can be overclocked for you on most motherboards if you are that scared of it

If you're not gonna overclock, move down to a p67 or even an h67 board.

thanks for the reply smile.gif

The ASUS BIOS is extremely easy to overclock with, I overclocked an i3 on my own with a first build, literally no experience from 3.07 to 3.8 without a problem using an ASUS mobo. Honestly, you shouldn't be afraid of it, I'm looking at that same mobo for my next build, and I would strongly suggest the 2500k.

I would also suggest the G.Skill Sniper 1.25V series for that mobo, a buddy of mine has the 1.25V overclocked on his build with that exact mobo and it runs great! And if you don't want to play with overclocking RAM just jump to the Sniper 1.5V and save a couple bucks.

but seriously, with ASUS overclocking is real easy thumb.gif

Hope this helped! biggrin.gif
