Good headphones for Skyrim/Battlefield 3

Hey guys, looking into getting my first real pair of headphones and I'm looking to spend around $100-$150 for the phones + any neccessary audio gear. I will be using them primarily for gaming, but also for the occasional dubstep/hip-hop so bass is a neccessity. As for gaming I will be using them for games like Skyrim and single-player, so I want something that will immerse me in the game, staging would be a plus but not completeley neccesary since I won't be doing any competitive gaming. After doing some research, it seems like my best choices for phones are the Samson SR850. They have good bass, good price/performance and it sounds like they have decent staging. I was originally looking at the AD700, but their lack of bass is a major turn off and although looks aren't that important to me, they're just hideous imo. So are the 850's teh right phones for me and if not, what would you guys suggest? Also, what would you guys suggest as far as sound cards or amps?

Budget is $100-150 (was in original post). I have been considering the a700, they're going for about $120 on amazon though, so I will be going over my budget if I get a decent sound card. Any other suggestions?

A700 is the most consistently recommended one, sounds like a good choice.

Really, anything with good imaging would work well. AKG makes phones with good imaging, that's the company I would recommend most. Sennheiser is also ok, but not as awesome. Stax (electrostatic) have the best imaging I find, but for everything including amp it might be $350 USED.

I always hear beyers, but to me they're just fun, bassy phones (same goes for Ultrasones) and typically bassy phones have less accurate imaging, which would suck for competitive fps.

For your price, a700 is a solid choice maybe the best. But check if they need an amp

For new headphones, A700s should be a great choice. If you're willing to buy used, I once got a pair of beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm's for $100 on ebay and they were great for gaming as well.

you are not even reading that he also needs them for a particular genre of music. A700 lacks so much bass to what I linked.... doh.gif I have the DT 880 250ohm and they are perfectly fine for gaming coupled with my Titanium HD....
