Your pump should be lower than your res in your loop so once you pour fluid into your res it will go straight down into your pump. Of course if you see the fluid start to fill up in your res then you can be pretty sure that your pump has water and is ready to go.

There are different ways to fill your loop, I personally fill my res untill it's full, then run my pump untill the res is almost empty, stop my pump and fill my res again then run pump again and repeat untill water starts to flow back into the res and fill up. Weather this is wrong or right I don't no but this is how I have always done it smile.gif
