Disable full screen title. Enable quick boot. Just for safety set the CD rom to first boot. Basically that's your general system stuff.

If your running mem that is capable load the XMP settings. Or just make sure your me is set to the correct speeds.

Fire it, let it boot. Then shut her down and OC HER!!

Alrighty, my chipset is as follows

ASRock extreme7 gen3
I5 2500k
Corsair ddr3 vengeance ram 4x2 1600
OCZ SSD
Anyway... When I boot this thing, the bios doesn't see the CD drive. But when I go into windows (windows 7 is still on this drive from my last comp) it sees the drive and I can load stuff off the disk. I can't set it as a boot priority for some reason?

Try a different sata port. I've had that before with a secondary HDD and just switching it to a different port made it work.

Yeah, I tried that and it ended up working. The drive didn't work well with a sata 3 port for whatever reason, but worked fine with a sata 2.

Ok, so I just used a preset OC profile in my bios for 4.0 GHz.... Is that reliable? Lol

Just watch what it sets your vcore at. Those auto OCs can overcompensate sometimes and put in way more voltage than needed.

That chip will do 4.0 without breaking a sweat. You can almost set just the multiplier and leave all the other settings at auto for a 4.0 clock. Mine is doing 4.9 24/7.

v-core is the only voltage you want to edit when overclocking your CPU right?

Depends how high you get up in OC. If you are pushing over 5.0 your gonna need to start pumping PLL in as well as if you want it all to play nice at idle you need to set your offsets. But if your only hanging around 4.0 EVERYTHING can be on auto.

yeah 50x100 is all you ca really do short of 50x102 And your not really gaining much on that .01GHz. Vcore wise depends greatly on your silicon. Mine runs like 1.192 @ 3.4GHz. It needed 1.334 @ 4.7. And at 4.9 it needed 1.384. But when i jumped to 5.1 i had to make a huge jump to like 1.452 iirc. so i kept it at the nice safe 4.9GHz until yesterday when i pulled it off liquid and threw the stock HSF on it. (my H70 that was on it from day 1 is being relocated to my 3930k!!)
