Am I bottlenecking this 560TI?

Thread Starter
I have an AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor @3.0GHz not OC.
8GB 1333MHz DDR3
I was wanting to know if I am bottlenecking my EVGA 560ti.

Would really appreciate the help

Thanks

No, you are not bottle-necking that GPU...

For games like SC2, yes the AMD processor is bottlenecking the GTX 560 Ti.

No you won't bottleneck your GPU with an Athlon II X4, If you really feel the need you can up your CPU to 3.4 or 3.6GHz.

I personally think that your processor is gimping your performance a bit. I wouldn't say completely bottlenecking but also not the greatest.

You can never properly answer this question based on looking at the hardware alone. It depends on the game, the settings you play that game at, and what your own personal definition of 'bottleneck' IS.

Generally speaking any decent OC'd quad-core is going to BN any single-GPU setup fairly minimally a large majority of the time. But there could definitely be certain gaming scenarios where you'd get significantly higher FPS if you had a faster processor, there's no doubt about that.

There are SO, SO very few games where a six-core will give an improvement in gaming vs. an equal quad. Not worth dropping the extra coin for 2 extra cores if all ya care about is games. In fact, there's still not that many games where going from a dualie to a quad makes a significant difference in perf, esp. not when you play w/all the gfx settings as maxed out as possible, in order to play in the 40-60fps range.
