NEW PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus Causing BSOD

Thread Starter
Hello people this is just a little heads up if you are thinking about upgrading/installing the new spyware doctor from PC Tools.

I just want to begin by saying I do not deter anyone from using PC Tools products because I have used them for many years and I'm a happy customer. However after installing their new Version 9 I get blue screens when scanning for viruses!

Although this is probably just a teething issue; I will be informing PC Tools and try to help them get to the bottom of the problem I thought I would let anyone who is thinking about upgrading that there are issues.

I have stopped the AV from automatically running any scans at log on now so it shouldn't cause any blue screens but that remains to be seen.

My current advise is to stay with the previous version but this issue is probably individual to my rig and you may not get it.

HOWEVER if you have upgraded and are getting these issues please leave a reply to help the community thanks.

The last time I bought something with PC Tools was horrible, the stupid virus scanner kept freezing my system everytime it tried to scan something. Not even going to bother with them anymore, at least they gave me a refund.

Better have both individually, like avast and malwarebyte.

You aren't the only one getting this issue. My system has been stable since the day I built it. Even stable with the old version of Spyware Doctor with AV. I had been putting off downloading the new version for awhile even though the program insisted I do it... What a bad idea... Everytime it tries to scan, BSOD and a nice restart.. I put in a ticket to their technical support but we'll see how that goes. Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one. Lol.

Malwarebytes and Comodo are about the only help I have used to get rid of that POS malware.

I put in the new SD from PCT about a week ago . After never ever getting a BSOD I now get it every other day or so . I removed it and reloaded it , still BS'sOD haunt me . I did a Driver Robot search and reloaded all that were claimed dated , still have the same problem .

Getting Stop: 0x00000050 (0xea14c640,0x000000000,0xb9e2fc54,0x00000001)
PCTCore,sys - address b9e2fc54 base at b9de9000, datestamp 4ec09376

I no nothing about this stuff , I don't even know how to do Word or PDF files . I using IE8 on XP .

Now I did a search to find PCTCore , except for a photo of the BSOD there is only one location and it is in where it belongs .

I searched the PT site and saw no remarks about this problem .

This morning when I cranked it up I got a MS pop up about recovering from a serious error which pointed to the same hints to a possible cure . I now un-installed SD to isolate problem or the mule delivering the possible embedded problem . I then restarted just fine .

I hate this crap . MS populated the blazing BSOD with codes it and only the informed know what they mean . If they know that , they should just fix the condition that is out of bounds or not let it be downloaded . It's like a doctor point a finger at you and saying " Oh look , you're squirting arterial blood " then stating " you ought to look into that ."

This is my BSOD I was getting
