Looking to buy a high end gaming laptop

Thread Starter
I am looking to get a new laptop for gaming in the next couple months. My current one is a Toshiba with integrated graphics so it is not very good for gaming. Here's the usual formatting:

What is your maximum budget?
$1900

[B[What country are you in?[/B]
United States

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Playing modern first person shooters and some older games.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Not really.

What screen size do you require?
I would prefer one larger than 15" but I could maybe do 14" if that's the best option.

What screen resolution do you require?
900p or higher would be nice.

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
I would rather get new.

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
Doesn't matter. I'm plugged in almost all the time.

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
Battlefield 3 on max if possible.

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows 7 of any sort.

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
As long as it's not brown. I would like a nice sturdy one so aluminum would probably be nice. Gamin obviously.

How much hard drive space do you need?
At least 500gb.

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
Nope.

Is there anything else we need to know?
My friend has an Alienware m15x that is holding up great and is pretty awesome, so I guess a backlit keyboard would be cool too.

I've been looking at the Alienware m17x and the new msi laptops with the colorful keyboard, although I haven't seen one in person so I don't know their build quality.

Can you upgrade the gtx 560m after purchase? Do you have anymore reasoning like build quality and how long it lasts. Also this doesn't matter much, but does it have the 120hz screen to support the nvidia 3d vision?

your hilarious... the razer blade is the most overpriced p.o.s. i have ever seen.

OP: I would highly recommended you get the m17x R3 with the 6990m and 1080p screen. It can't play BF3 on max (4x aa Ultra etc) but it will do just fine on High. TBH, i can barely tell the difference between Ultra and medium. This option might be slightly above $1900 but is the best specced laptop you can get for your budget tongue.gif. BTW, you can call a sales rep to haggle down the price! Hope this helps!

Clevo/Sager 8170
17" FHD 1920x1080
i7 2670QM
8gb Ram (4x2)
Ati 6990
500gb HD
Intel 6230 wifi
Win 7 HP

$1425 "cash"
$1469 credit

Price protection until January 1st and free shipping

Oh and you CAN"T upgrade the GPU in an Asus. Clevo/Sager is the most accessible laptop as far as upgrades are concerned. The m17x r3 is upgradeable too. But, your gonna pay 50% more for lights and an alien.

False!

Oh by the way, this laptop in my sig is what I'll recommend for the unlimited budget. For >$2000 you should go with the Sager for sure.

There's a $100 off promotion going on at xoticpc.com right now. Sager 8180 with crossfire 6990m's is going for... $1817. That's ridiculous.
