A quick question about 2600k Voltage...

I have my 2600k set @ 4.5GHz with 1.365V, for prime 12+ hours stability I had to set LLC at level 5, which makes it @ 1.40V even tho I have it at 1.365,
my question is: can I consider it @ 1.365? or 1.40 due to my LLC.

P.S Idle Voltage 1.38 and load Voltage 1.40

1.4 is probably a bit much for only 4.5 I would think you could get quite a bit lower. I count my voltage to be whatever it settles at on load, so for me it's 1.448, but it will bounce around 1.436 and 1.456 on ultra LLC for my setup.

I'd approach it with consideration to the highest voltage it ever receives. With LLC off, you can generally assume this will be what you set in the BIOS. With LLC on, you never know, but it's generally above what you set at SOME point to SOME degree (the higher the LLC setting, the higher it goes above it). What you set in the BIOS is effectively null and void as the maximum it ever receives since you are using LLC, and to an extreme at that. I think the way it works is that the value in the BIOS is supposed to act as a "I will never go over this value" threshold.

Right now, you are setting 1.365V but I would not lull yourself into a false sense of safety and "consider" it that. It is using more than that at all times; at idle, load, and who knows how much during transient spikes.

Personally, I prefer LLC off for that reason, but the Vdrop or Vdroop (whichever is the term for the drop it experiences from idle to load) is so much bigger with these CPUs than it was in the past that I think a light setting isn't a bad idea. You won't get too much Vdrop or Vdroop but it won't spike too much over what you set in the BIOS either, so it acts like LLC off from yesterday's boards only with a slight headroom for slight spikes to be taken into account.

LLC on isn't a bad idea if you understand what it does and take into consideration how voltages will react, and how high they may go at maximum (which you truly never know, even with LLC off you probably don't but you have a far better idea).

LOL, I tried LLC off and when I set the Vcore to 1.365 on bios, my CPU-Z shows only 1.32 Vcore under full Load with Prime or IBT, so I get BSOD 101, tried more Vcore and it is always .04 under the value I set on bios! ***, I have tried all settings on auto (except vcore) too and it always undervolts of .04, what is going on... if I want stability I have to put LLC on level 5. is LLC that important?
also I have noticed that the vcore is connected directly with the CPU temp (I could be wrong), when I had the stock cooler, my Vcore was fine (exactly what I set in BIOS without LLC) when the CPU reached 90 C, now when it reach 60-65C max with my Corsair A70 the vcore undervolts itself with BSOD, even tho I havent changed anything in BIOS since my stock cooler.

P.S fyi, I have tried a different PSU (CM 750W) and I have the same issue, so the PSU is not the case I think. I may have to live with LLC on redface.gif

Please enlighten me if you have any information to spread regarding this issue.
