The next home console from Nintendo is now pre-order on a sales site online! Indeed, on the website of Carrefour stores, there are now pre-order U Wii. When contacted by us, Nintendo France reacts to these rates and states "To date, there has been no communication on the Wii tariff U in the world."

I don't think that price makes sense, as it would alienate a large part of their consumer base, parents buying toys for their kids. I know I wouldn't drop 450 euros on a childs console. I like that they're making forays into the hardcore market again, but that doesn't hide the fact that nintendo consoles aren't really seen as home entertainment powerhouses which warrant such a high price tag. Until they change that few will pay for it.

Sounds reasonable considering it's a new launch and wipes the floor with the PS3 and 360 technologically and interface-wise. (The price is going to include that iPad-like thing I assume as well?)

450 Euros? If it actually sells for that much I can imagine it being extremely unsuccessful.

Although how much was the PS3 on launch? $600 right?
Isn't this device true 720p? because ps3/xbox360 1080p is acutally 560p and scaled up to 720/1080p. If they can offer much more noticeable graphics (for example DX11 support) then im all in for it.

I think the gpu in it is based on the rv770 which is the 4800 series that is not directx11, not the less I think they try to reach "hardcore gamer" with big tittles without losing the "young casual gamers"

Can't be real, Nintendo would never release a console for that much.

Damn, that really puts things into perspective. Often we are quick to forgot a consoles early years and the absurd pricing therein.

new consoles are always gonna be high at first look at how XBOX360 and SPECIALLY PS3 started off at.. PS3 was selling nearly $900-$1200 a console at the start in some stores sold very little but they were selling..XBOX was like 400-500 at the start.. sometimes $600 redface.gif
