[Jeuxvideo.com] Wii U console and games prices leaked? - Page 3

It's Nintendo. I'm going to go ahead and expect this:

1) Great games made by Nintendo
2) Sub-par releases made by third party companies.

I really don't expect Nintendo's business model to last into the next decade.

I don't think most of you take into account that Japanese business ethics are a lot different from others. Anyway, the Wii U will be released and Sony and Microsoft will follow suit with their rendition of the new Wii U remote. It's the same every console generation.

Where did you get this number from?

The majority of console games are native 720p all of which can be scaled to 1080p. A few notable games are below 720p, but those games employ some very advance techniques.

Not sure if trolling or just an idiot?
Most console games if not all, run at sub-HD, such as BF3 which ran at 704p + black pixel borders added, COD games run at 500 something progressive and is upscaled by the console an tv.
They are upscaled to 720p/1080p by the console and tv, some hdtvs like mine dont upscale which you get a small rectangle image of the video in the middle of the tv.
The only games which run native at 720p or 1080p (not sure if there are even any 1080p console games) are exclusive 1st party titles, and thats only some of the time, they too most of the time run at sub-HD.

for the time being atleast, it'll be a matter of time before the 3DS stalls out.. prolly will stall out next year for a little while, and thats a handheld which is neglitable for most parts...the Wii is still selling strong tho for nintendo, but when the Wii U makes it's self debut those sales will slow to a crawl if not stall out. it's not really new territory but rather existing territory that they are going around on paving a new level for themselves learning from their past and most recent actions. they can sell the console itself..just need them to go in their bag of tricks to do it..biggrin.gif

people seem to be comparing the 3Ds handheld to the Wii U when they should compare it to the original Wii, when the Wii sold for nearly 350-400 bucks and sold out like nothing redface.gif

1. did you mean Negligible? If so your very wrong the handhelds have always been Nintendo's biggest cash cow. How is it Negligible? It has already surpassed the Original DS's success in a shorter period.

2. Wii isn't selling all that strong anymore only just recently have sales picked back up because of Zelda/price cuts/Christmas

3. It certainly is new territory for Nintendo selling Hardware at a loss. That is what I was referring too.

4. The 3DS to Wii U comparison is valid when discussing Nintendo's launch mistakes that they cannot afford to reproduce

5. Wii never Retailed for $350+

And once again not sure if trolling or just an idiot?

1 - the original nds out sells the 3ds by 2 to 1
http://www.tgdaily.com/games-and-entertainment-brief/57263-nintendo-ds-outselling-3ds-two-to-one

2 - umm....uggh....yeah...no
http://thenextweb.com/insider/2011/11/28/nintendo-sold-500k-wii-consoles-in-the-u-s-alone-during-black-friday/

3 - they've been selling at a loss since the n64, the cartridge medium was highly expensive, why do you think sony won the console war?...is was the cd medium that allowed for cheaper prices and more data to be stored, not only that the hardware in the ps1 was cheaper than in the n64.
ninty also sold at a loss in the gamecube era, thats why the wii was a safe console with the motion control gimmick

4 - no, the 3ds is a handheld the wii u is a home system, it launches to, 2 different markets, the handheld space is already dominated by smartphones, i phones etc, the home system space is NOT.

5 - it was basically a slightly overclocked gamecube + motion controls coded in, it didnt need to retail at over $350, it was basically the gamecube re-skinned

Xbox 360 and PS3 can both do true 1080p and 720p, however games have to sacrifice a lot to get those resolutions so it's pretty rare that they actually use it.

The problem with the WiiU is that it won't be far enough ahead of the 360/PS3 for a lot of people to justify it, especially considering that the next Xbox and possibly ps4 are only a year or less behind it and will likely blow it away.

You have utterly no idea what your talking about.

The 3DS has outsold the Original in the same period year on year. That's strait from NOA President's mouth.
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.screwattack.com%2Fnews%2Fcommunity-showcase-3ds-outsells-dss-first-year&ei=M2zgTonsI869tgeav6WJCw&usg=AFQjCNGLsaEgSZvimyfns0zvj9A0qV0XOg&sig2=R8l2pRvOBw3tP8WbhaMw_Q

As far as the selling at a loss thing, your wrong. They have NEVER sold ANY hardware at a LOSS before. The 3DS is the first. What your on about has nothing to do with what I said.

The 3DS to Wii U launch price/software lineup is a valid point despite them not being the same type of console. A lesson learned is a lesson learned.
http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/12/nintendo-trying-to-avoid-3ds-price-situation-on-wii-u.html

Your the one who claimed the Wii Retailed for $350+ and that's false.

Despite the Wii being a modified GCN, it was very successful but has drastically wound down. I explained the recent sales spike and that was to be expected. I still don't see the Wii being nothing more than a Gimmicky OC'd GCN either. It targeted a different market and did so well, for so long, the competitors that said they had no interest in that market and LOL'd at Nintendo, copied them and have tried to recreate Nintendo's success. Like the Wii or not, It deserves more respect than it gets. It brought alot of new ideas and new generations of gamers.
