I don't think two pumps are necessary. Both pumps listed are super reliable.

ya but PeteJM made a good point about redundancy...

and as far as the res goes, can i use this along with the two DDC-1T's?

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_318_665&products_id=25767

or am i still better going with the top and a independent res?

The pump top looks like a quality piece and it allows you to add your fitting of choice. Go for it.

The res is designed for dual loops, but if you are running a single loop with 2 pumps in series, I think you would be better off with a single loop, dual bay res.
I have a dual bay (or double height whatever) and really like it. I think a large res is a good thing.

I would go with FrozenCPU, check reseller ratings. Its a no brainer if you look at those reviews. I have heard a lot of bad things about PPC, especially their return policy...
