Greatest Best Buy Experience Ever! (Sarcastic)

Thread Starter
Today I bought a seagate momentus xt, to my absolute suprise, after unboxing I find a seagate 5400.6 drive. Awful. The first clue I had was that the static packaging had been opened. Didn't even plug it in. Will update later today, not sleeping till I get this resolved lol.

Why did you even accept it if it had been opened? They normally have security tape that you have to cut to open the box.

what's your point? tiger isn't a b&m store, you have to trust tiger to put the right things in the box. at a store like best buy, when you physically pick out whatever it is you're buying, you have the opportunity to inspect your package before purchase. comparing online shopping to b&m shopping is a bad comparison to make, two very different experiences...

Someone could have pulled a switcheroo and returned it.

You can't really rely on minimum wage kids to determine if the right model HDD is in the return box.

Also, he said the static packaging was opened, not the box.

id say have a look for any data on the drive to determine whether its actually a switcheroo.

Dont mean to derail the thread. But same thing just happened to me at microcenter a few days ago. I bought a asus P8P67- PRO for $125.00. Thought it was a mistake on the price... got home opened it and it was a non pro model with a broken DIMM and horribly warped to the point I dont understand how it wasnt broke in half. Someone spent ALOT of time to make it look unopened. O well they gave me a P8Z68-V PRO for my troubles. Over 50 minute drive 4 times rolleyes.gif

assuming it is the wrong drive, just bring it back, best buy should give you no trouble. When I have brought back parts like that, they usually have a geek squad guy check it 1st to make sure what I am returning is what is in the box, that sucks, and it can happen in any store. Also, it could have been shrink wrapped in the store when it was returned. Don't be so harsh, its not that big of a deal

This almost happened to me at a best buy, or compusa, don' remember which. But I picked up some GPU to look at it, and noticed the package had been opened. Upon looking where the barcode window is, I noticed the card had been put in wrong. and when i opened the box a bit more, I realized it was some ancient AGP card in what was either an 8800GT or an 8800GTS box.

People are dishonest... this just goes to show that.

Hope it works out in your favor OP. Just go in there, be NICE and explain the situation.
