Your first problem was buying from Bestbuy.

That place gets on my nerves. The service is generally terrible.

I was there not to long ago needed a laptop HDD. I really needed one that day, so I opted to buy local instead of online.

Their website said they had what I wanted in stock. So I drove to the store to grab one, went in and noticed the shelf was empty. I went up front and asked if they have any in stock, like the website said. A lady checked out the computer and said they do indeed have two.

So she looks over at the shelf and noticed that it is empty, then looks at me and says "They are out of stock". I asked her, "then why did the computer say 2?". Her response was, "There are probably 2 around here, but they aren't on the shelve...so they are out of stock." I asked her if she could go check in the back, that resulted in a dirty look. She finally drug her lazy butt to the geek squad area and asked someone there. They just shrugged their shoulders and said "I dunno".

After that, she just went back to the register and ignored me for a minute. I tried to find a manager, but they were no where to be found. I then walked up the the register and said "Thanks for be a lazy waste of space, moving more than 3ft a day may help your health.", then left the store. She just had a fairly blank face. Other customers had a small chuckle. The security guard didn't even care, probably cause he didn't like her.

The worst part is that I couldn't find anyone else to help. Usually employees at a BB won't leave you alone. At my local store they generally ignore you, unless you really want to blow some money.

Yeah Best Buy is a total crap store. Never buy there. I went there and bought SC2 and had a coupon but it was at home. I asked if I could show them the coupon and get a discount. They said yes and I had them sign a receipt as proof. I go back 2 days later with the coupon and they send me to the geek squad desk where they say they can't do anything and refuse to bring the manager out

You guys need to learn to raise a stink =p

They ignore you because they know you will go away.

Or like you said, just avoid brick and mortar stores because they typically staff minimal effort part time employees.

My first and last experience with Best Buy in terms of hardware (and actually I don't think I've bought anything else there since, but I have gone in the store) was a great deal on a hard drive as well. Took it home and ran it for about five months before it died. it turned out to be a refurbished hard drive that only had a 90 day warranty that Best Buy had struck up a deal with Seagate to sell. Nothing on the box or documentation gave a hint to that. Though this was a few years ago now...it was a 250GB hard drive back when that was a respectable sized drive.

I spoke to the manager and he didn't even understand why I was made because it had a 90 day warranty, though the drive should have had a three year warranty. I got a discount coupon of some kind that I ended up giving away

It never is hard to find some one with a horror story about Best Buy...that doesn't involve the Geek Squad even. No need to open that can of worms.

I hate Best Buy, but not cause of the customer service (my local BB has some fantastic customer service surprisingly). I just hate going there because they generally only carry overpriced crap.
You can forget about going there to buy computer parts. My BB has a component section that is literally just 2 shelves with only fans and video cards, and I think maybe 2 really crappy brands of PSU's. rolleyes.gif
Not to mention I can always find things online for at least $30 cheaper.
It's unfortunate because I always get gift cards to BB. I wish people would just give me newegg or amazon cards.
