Worries with QUAD SLI

Thread Starter
My plan for ages has been to buy two GTX590 GPU's to make QUAD SLI technology. And I'm extremely close to buying it, but just tonight I have discovered the alleged crisis to do with GTX 590 cards.
Supposedly there's a malfunction in the drivers or something like that, but now I'm a little hesitant to get GTX590.

Should I instead get two HD 6990 GPU's.

Can someone more knowledgeable on the whole thing please enlighten me.

And I am planning on watercooling both my GTX590's, will that perhaps diffuse the problem that's going around?

Honestly at this point I'd say wait... both of those cards are getting a bit old, and with the 7000 series dropping soon, might see a price drop (one would hope).

Either way though, if you must buy now, I say go with the 6990s specifically because you're water cooling them. They're faster, scale better, and you won't have to deal with the jet-engine-taking-off noise because of the water.

If you just wait and tri-fire 7970's when they come out you're going to get wayyy more performance for the same amount of $.

6990s will do you better if you're throwing waterblocks on them. Those cards are monsters. (I used to own one)

But, if you can wait, the 7000 series will fair you better for much longer. thumb.gif

I wasn't aware of a new Radeon 7000 series.

So I should really go with AMD instead?

How much longer do you think I should have to wait for the 7000. And isn't it best to wait a few weeks or months after a new GPU release to make sure there aren't any post-release issues, like there has been with the GTX590.
