I know, right? I had the same thing happen to me. However, this is interesting. Let's see if Acer stars selling something actually good. At the moment their products do not interest me in the least.

I have two Acer Aspires. A netbook and a laptop. Both are doing well and have so in the past since 2009. Never had a problem with heat or anything else.

I also have an Acer monitor since 2009. I'm still using it, right now actually, and I'm very satisfied with Acer.

Never had to deal with their customer service, so I can't anything about that.

To me their products do not feel cheap but not high quality either. But they work and so far are pretty reliable, in my experience at least.

Monitors are fine, the bloody desktop my mother bought was the biggest pile of garbage I've ever had to use.....

Asus and MSI, are the true way, ACER and GATEWAY, Yes the thing powers on, but don't expect it, to run for a long time. For example My father had a PIII yes that's a 3 Dell Laptop, GOD! That thing still boots up windows millennium or 98 like a Charm! I had a Acer Laptop from like 2009, got it for 600 bucks. 1 Year later (im not joking here) the sucker fried it's board. I kept it in my office, Never had nothing leak or even dust on it. I am right now using a Dell LCD from 2005 YES! 2005! Ultrasharp, and no dead pixels at all! I'd like to see a acer monitor run that far. Remember this "you get what you pay for" Thats why I am switching to a SB I7 biggrin.gif

lol, acer will always be crap because they use generic parts inside their laptops.
you can find the cheapest ram and hdd inside acer, hp, and toshiba laptops.

asus and msi will always have better laptops because they manufacture the motherboards and parts themselves.

well i have a 3 year old Acer laptop.

- Doesn't wake up after sleep
- hinges broke off
- keys get stuck
- speakers don't work (although i did this)

I changed it's CPU and it was pretty tricky, had to dismantle the hole damn thing. I don't think the Mobo likes the voltages this new Dual core (@1.9Ghz) wants, the old CPU was a 1.6Ghz single core.

I took tons of calls while i worked hotel tech support, from the acer aspire ones having their wireless switch going bad.
