Asus Maximus Extreme IV Bios issue

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I just built my friend his new rig and the issue came up when I started up the system. It seems the board does not want to save configurations which is set in the bios. I would boot up, go into bios config the time/date, boot up device. I would be able to get into windows. Once I reboot, it would go into a state of a blinking black screen. I would then have to push the clear bios config button on the top left of the motherboard. This would allow the system to boot up or else it would just hang there with the blinking black screen. Anyone get this issue too. I don't know if its a bad mobo or if there is a configuration which I would need to do. Any help is appreciated. Here is the specs of the system.

Did you try and install a fresh OS? On that note did you set the HDD/SSD to first boot? if you're going to be installing a new OS, I suggest you set an optical drive as first boot.

Also what BIOS are you running? You can find that info on this page:

338

Just a note, when you get into the BIOS set the AI clock tuner to XMP.

Please report back. smile.gif

EDIT:

If you can, download the latest BIOS (2001) from the Asus Website and flash the BIOS.

It is a new install of the Windows OS (windows 7). I will try to flash the bios and get back to you on it. Once I get to his house to do more guessing and checking. I don't think it has to do with the bios jumpers.
Side Note:
This is a brand new Motherboard so i didn't think of flashing the bios. I will check the version and flash it and see if it fixes the issue.

Issue has been fixed. Found the source was due to his bad 1200watt antec psu. Threw in a corsair 1200watt psu. Problem was gone. Thank you for your help munaim1.
