Stubborn OC and BSOD 101 124 errors

Thread Starter
I have been using the Guides on here and Clunk.org and it has left me with nothing but the typical BSOD.

I tried 4.0ghz with the 1.120 Volt setting for Base and upped passed 1.180 Volt.

Same thing with 4.5ghz at 1.250 ranging from 1.250-1.270 volts.

Prime ran fine at stock for one hour with no errors and was at 1.160-1.168 volts for stock.

I am using what is in my SIG currently.

I almost feel I should be using the 1.160-1.168 for reference and assume that I would need to at least add .05 difference to add to whatever guide is on the forums.

The recommended was 1.120 for 4.0 ghz and its lower than that of the stock settings?

The chip is the D2 revision as well.

I am at that point I am asking for help and need the Guru advise from the Intel owners to educate me please. Thank you again OCN!

What cooling do you have?

You're chip may just require a bit more voltage than other's. Have a little read at my small guide, link is in my sig smile.gif

BSOD 101 - is usually related to the Vcore.
BSOD 124 - could be QPI/VTT (VCCIO) and/or Vcore, also PLL voltage too high or too less can contribute as well.

We need a bit more info as schmuckley said smile.gif

Post your BIOS screenshots as you have them for your 4.5ghz overclock.

Ok.. Fair enough.

ProLimatech Genesis with some additional help. On stock settings it doesn't even hit 47C after an hour on prime.

Two Sticks of Corsair Vengeance of 4GB a peace. For a total of 8GB of 9-9-9-24-T2 1.5 Volts

1.160-1.168 was STOCK not 4.0ghz

4.0ghz for some reason in the guide was 1.120Volt recommended.

I will work on some Bios Shots for you guys and again thanks for the help!

Asus P8P67 settings at stock in bios nothing has been changed.

Settings for the 4.0ghz run were as follows.

AI overclock was Manual
BCLK/PEG Freq was 100
Turbo Ratio was BY ALL CORES IN OS (40)
Memory was set at 1333 even though it is 1600Mhz memory

That was all was changed for 4.0

For 4.5Ghz Trial as follows
AI Overclock Tuner was Manual
BCLK/PEG 100
Turbo Ratio By All Cores OS (45)
MEM Freq was set to 1333 9-9-9-24-2t
CPU Voltage Manual
CPU Manual Voltage settings at 1.250-1.270 until stable (Did not become stable)
DRAM 1.5Volt

Try this:

Ai Tweaker
  • Ai Overclock Tuner: XMP
  • BLCK/PCIE Frequency: 100.0
  • Turbo Ratio: By All Cores
  • By All Cores: 45
  • Internal PLL Voltage: Disabled
  • Memory Frequency: XMP will automatically set it
  • DRAM Timing Control: XMP will automatically set it
  • EPU Power Saving MODE: Disabled

Ai Tweaker\ CPU Power Management >
  • CPU Ratio: Auto
  • Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology: Enabled
  • Turbo Mode: Enabled
  • Long Duration Power Limit: Auto
  • Long Duration Maintained: Auto
  • Short Duration Power Limit: Auto
  • Additional Turbo Voltage: Auto
  • Primary Plane Current Limit: Auto

Ai Tweaker (in the DIGI+ VRM section)
  • Load-Line Calibration: Ultra High
  • VRM Frequency: Manual
  • VRM Fixed Frequency Mode: 350
  • Phase Control: Extreme
  • Duty Control: Extreme
  • CPU Current Capability: 140%
  • CPU Voltage: Manual 1.3V
  • DRAM Voltage: XMP will set it automatically
  • VCCSA Voltage: Auto
  • VCCIO Voltage: Between Auto - 1.125v could help with stability
  • CPU PLL Voltage: Between 1.5-1.7v Will bring better stability
  • PCH Voltage: Auto
  • CPU Spread Spectrum: Enabled

Advanced\ CPU Configuration >
  • CPU Ratio: Auto
  • Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor: Enabled
  • Active Processor Cores: All
  • Limit CPUID Maximum: Disabled
  • Execute Disable Bit: Enabled
  • Intel Virtualization Technology: Disabled
  • Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology: Enabled
  • Turbo Mode: Enabled
  • CPU C1E: Enabled
  • CPU C3 Report: Auto
  • CPU C6 Report: Auto

The only thing you need to be changing is the vcore. Increase it if it's unstable, check with Prime 95 blend test. When you're nearing stability you can mess around with the VCCIO and PLL voltage if you want, make sure you change values in small increments and check with prime blend each time. You can try a quick test with Prime by setting the min and max FFT to 1344 and testing for 15 mins, the same for 1792. Have a little read at the stable club, link is in my sig.

Just a note, you can change to Offset method once you have your desired overclock.

Good luck thumb.gif

I am taking a break for the night. Highest temp at the time of the error was 61C at 23 minutes. I am going to keep going till I reach 65-66C for a comfortable OC temp at 100% and hopefully it will near 4.8-4.9Ghz. Thank you again guys.

Excellent!!! It will take some time to iron out and 'tweak' the overclock to get it 100% stable. Take your time and note down any changes to stability between BIOS changes.

Those temps are pretty darn good, why not go for a higher overclock? leave the vcore where it is, and set the multiplier to 47 or 48 and then test with prime, you never know it may just work lol

If not, just add vcore in small increments and test with prime blend. smile.gif
