Regardless I'm glad that google is stepping forward, I am an iPhone owner, but I fully support open source market, and I'm buying a Kindle fire to start developing apps for android just to see how it is.
It would be cool to be able to build apps for tv and that as well, I'm all for the movement of internet apps on our TVs, (meaning we dont have to buy a secondary box to watch netflix, hulu, or shop)

Once my TV goes out I'll be on the Google TV train with Samsung (or Philips if they design one, if they haven't already)
