Sorry to hijack thread, but is it worth stepping down to AP-14's for my H100 instead of AP-15's? Can't find them in stock anywhere, without having to pay ridiculous shipping prices

Interesting. The whole point of the AP-15 and the GT line in general is commercial quality (meaning consistency in batches as well), high static pressure, and great noise to CFM ratio. The best in all categories really. So when we say one is the same or about the same lets try and consider the whole picture. I would say if Cougars are roughly the same as the AP 15 and someone says Blademasters are the same or better then both must be compared to what the GT strived for and achieved in all categories. The Cougar seems to do this in spades with hydro dynamic bearings, even lower dbA, and still ~ CFM. The blademasters at least fall short in dbA which is one of the things the GT is touted for.

I for one would love to see and compare all three in tests/reviews.

50+ CFM for 16dba...virtually indubitable mate

You have any links for actual tests results? Many fans don't actually perform what they are rated for. The GT's do. So I would like to see the proof in the pudding.

No. That's completely false. CM's fan specs are horrendously off.

like you said above, they have great cfm to noise ratio. I'm not saying blademasters are quiet. but performance wise they are relatively similar in the aspect of cooling alone

im not judging by specs, im judging on performance and tests such as demonstrated by a respected member of this forum look here at this graph
if you take the time to find the blademasters and gt ap15s you will notice that with just one fan, the gt ap15s and blademasters are equals, in push pull, the blademasters actually did a little better in terms of cooling. that might be due to extraneous factors but in demonstration it clearly shows that blademasters are up to par in terms of cooling with the gt ap15s

They probably are fine. Obviously they may be similar in static pressure and cfm and less so in noise. I don't know enough about them to judge quality. Maybe those cougar fans are even more similar.

I think if just cfm is considered then Delta, SanAce fans and the like are monsters but, they are loud and most likely 38mm thick. All depends in needs and goals.

I am kind of sceptical of the Cougar's specs they say it can last 34 years on their high end fans and 17 years on the other fans (if my maths is right redface.gif), San Ace long life only last 22 years. GT's are good but they are expensive and for people in the US hard to find.

Kama Flow 2 from Scythe are like the discontinued S-Flexes and they are cheap (in the UK). Blade Masters would be a good choice too. To be honest I don't think you will notice the difference between fans or if you do it will be small.

I don't understand why people pay $20 for a fan when they could pay half that and still get something great. The only time when I would accept that is if you were buying a high performance fans like Delta's, San Aces and so on.

i personally wouldn't pay 7 dollars extra for a cougar fan when a blademaster would do just as well. even the gt ap15s aren't as expensive as the cougars
