HD6770 Crossfire *without bridge*

Hello Overclock.net

As you can see in the above images I am running two HD 6770 one gigabyte. You can probably notice that there is no crossfire bridge confused.gif

I download a nice little software package called MSI Afterburner so I could see mt on screen display of both my video cards whilst I was playing Brink. I notice that at any given time my video cards had a load of 52% - 84% on both cards, so some weird and wonderful software that must be within the AMD’s driver pack that can crossfire these two powerful cards.

Can any of you guys confirm the above because it is definitely working for me?

Perhaps this is one of the special features of the HD6770 compared to the HD5770?

Is there much performance lost via using software crossfire over hardware crossfire?

To be honest I cannot be arsed as these two little buggers are playing brink great.

Plus within the AMD Driver pack it say Crossfire is enabled with a little tick within the box.

Did you check in CCC or GUP-Z if crossfire is ebabled? If it's disable, it must be something else is using the second GPU.

As per AMD you need crossfire bridge for 6770/5770.

I have check GPU Z & it states in the text box at the bottom that two gpus enabled.

Plus I have alternative loads across both gpus while playing Brink.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if this is really working. The additional bandwidth the bridge is designed to provide is so small compared to what the PCIe lanes can handle on their own.

I have just remove one of my card from the PCI-E x16 slot and performance has drop in Brink. I then reinstalled the second video card again and performance has increase so it's taking advantage of Software Crossfire wonder if I could run a third video card smile.gifsmile.gif
