What is the Screen Dimensions of a ASUS VW246H 24" 1920x1080 Monitor?

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
I am getting a ASUS VW246H 24" 1920x1080 monitor for Christmas and I am wondering what the exact screen dimensions are with a 24" 16.9 monitor. I would like to compare it with my NEC FE2111sb 22" 4.3 CRT that measures 12"H x 16"W. Could any of you guys please measure your 16.9 24" monitors screen dimensions for me? I want to see exactly how much size I will be gaining with this "upgrade".

(This is for the CRT Guys)
Also what do you guy think of going from a NEC MultiSync FE2111sb CRT (20" 1600x 1200@85hz) to the ASUS VW246H 24" LCD for games? I love my CRT monitor, and I always said that I am keeping this thing till it dies, but everyone I know (that has no clue of what this monitor is) keeps telling me that its time to upgrade and I kind of feel like Im making the wrong decision. I know that this is not a high end monitor I will be switching to, but I figured Id see what a $200 monitor can do now a days compared to a 9 year old CRT. Do you think I will be able to "live" with the Asus and be happy?

That's pretty easy to calculate, actually.

16x + 9x = 24^2
25x = 576
x = 576/25 = 23.04

16x = sq.root of 16 * 23.04 = 19.2 inch = 48.76800 centimeters
9x = sq.root of 9 * 23.04 = 14.4 inch = 36.57600 centimeters

so rougly 48.8 x 36.6 cm

(I just woke up, sorry math geeks if I made a dummy mistake biggrin.gif )

Close ronnin but shouldnt it be:

(16x)^2 + (9x)^2 = 24^2

giving 256x^2 + 81x^2 = 576
337x^2 = 576
x^2 = 1.709
x = 1.307

16 * x = 20.92
9 * x = 11.77

so 20.92 inches wide by 11.77 inches high.

Yes, that's right, I'm sorry. My calculation gives it in 4:3 for some reason biggrin.gif.

Thanks guys.

Can anyone tell me how high the bottom of the screen is from the bottom of the stand with this model? Im trying to figure out if I will have enough room to set my center speaker in front of the monitor and not block any of the screen. My center speaker is 4" high.
