If you're willing to wait a few months, word from out east is that we could be looking at 120HZ IPS at and cheaper 1440p by Marchish.

If I upgrade in 2 years I will definitely go for a IPS, but no atm.

Yeah really no point in waiting because of a rumors, unless you had a creditable source. There's always something better coming. If you waited for the next big thing you'd never buy anything

What is the best option out of the list?

Out of your "short list" I'd say go for the Asus VE278Q. It's not the best out there, but it's a decently popular model and it'll get you by until you can afford that IPS down the road.

Yes I am liking the ASUS as best out of the list, though I do like the Acer Acer S273HL. Wish there was more reviews on these 27" screens.

How would the ASUS screen compare to a Samsung S27A350H (which from what I read is better then the 550H model)? I could order the Samsung online and hopefully have it arrive around christmas.

Currently weighing up between the Samsung S27A350H, ASUS VE278Q and the Acer S273HL. Around 65% sure on the ASUS atm however.

Also does your 23" model have good quality too it?

Yeah that is what I was thinking myself. I will mostly likely (in a year or two) to a 27" 120HZ IPS screen and then bench my 21.5" BenQ and dual monitor with the 27" screen I will buy now. I am set on a 27" screen right now so I think its in my best option to buy it. I used to be the person who went "oh I will wait until the next gen stuff comes out" only to find when it did, new details of the 'newer' next gen hardware was coming out around the corner. Could never buy anything. tongue.gif Plus this is just a little xmas present for myself to enjoy over the holidays. smile.gif

Cheers to everyone who helped. Rep+ for everyone! smile.gif

Also is there a monitor (not out of the price range) that blows the ASUS VE278Q out of the water? Maybe a new brand I haven't heard about?

I did consider http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/VE278Q/ this one myself. But then completely changed my mind because I couldn't justify buying it, because to me it isn't a big enough leap in panel tech/ features.

I'm saving up to buy the ASUS PA246Q P-IPS Professional Monitor for the following reasons:

+ It's 24.1" so it's an upgrade from 23", but by doing this I'm not losing PPI numbers and it will be very sharp, way better Clarity.

+ It produces a 1.07 BILLION COLOUR DEPTH (64x higher) over the standard 16.7 MILLION, because it is a P-IPS panel with a 30-bit BPP [URL]

+ It is 1920x1200 16:10 = proper PC Resolution, none mainstream

+ 178* viewing angle

+ Better Colour Accuracy.

+ P-IPS is the top most recent IPS technology just behind AH-IPS which released this year.

Like I have stated multiple times throughout this thread I have already decided on the 27" TN panel as my preference. I don't want to illiterate what I have already stated.

Thanks for the information but I already know IPS is better quality.

In that case if I were you and wanted a TN panel 27", go for the Asus VE278Q it is decent with all the inputs you would ever need including DP. LED backlighting will be very cool for vibrant images. On the asus site it sells itself. Great for gaming.

Cheers. I think I am just going to jump the barrel and order the ASUS as it seems the best out of the range I have to decide from.

Thanks to everyone for the help!
