made the switch to android from iphone.,... multiple questions

Just got the Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket after having a iPhone 3gs for almost 3 years. While there is a learning curve and I am wrapping my hands around this new format, I find myself searching for a couple things which I had with the iPhone.

First, and probably.most important, music, how can I access music through my car stereo like I was? Is there a app which I can use to help access music on phone or do I have to do one of two things..... store music on USB folder on phone or turn new phone into a mobile hotspots and use my old iPhone in wifi to access everything?

Aside from that I am also looking for a forum which is for the android market?

Music is pretty standard, a 3.5mm jack transmits audio, you will have to use the actual phone to change tracks etc. Unless somehow the phone is transferring data via the usb/mini usb/ some other means. If you have a super advanced stereo, Im sure there is some app that allows bluetooth link to use your stereo controls to change tracks (also store your music in the music folder on the device..?)

As far as forums, xda developers for the most elitist.

Is their a PC program like iTunes that i can use to manage my music? Does winamp manage music? What type of videos does android support? Is the only way to get apps on an andriod by the appstore or do they have a program? thinking about getting the new LG android phone.

The music can be managed by simply plugging the phone in, it shows up as an external drive and its as easy as dragging and dropping. Winamp can manage your music and supports wireless syncing.
The supported audio/video/image codecs and filetypes are found here: http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html apps can be downloaded from the internet in .apk format and installed onto your device, however, it still needs to be coded for android.

When you refer to plugging in the phone do you mean the USB side or the audio Jack? I am asking as when I plug in my USB cable to stereo it stays on reading.... I probably just need to move the music to a different folder

I believe you might need the 3.5mm jack to play music. i can't play music through my usb jack in a car. i have to use the 3.5mm jack. I own a Galaxy S.

...or do like I did and use your old iPhone as an iPod Touch for your car :)

(assuming you are keeping your 3GS of course)

I am keeping the 3gs.... but, it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a android over the iphone if I am still going to have to utilize the iphone in addition to the new phone... I may as well return it eat the fee and get the iphone 4s.... and suffer through with the minor problems... I was hoping there was something out there I am missing since I am new to android market... but perhaps not....

thanks for info so far as it is helping one way or another.

You'll have to look at the manual for your car stereo. Chances are the usb is only for usb hard drives/memory sticks. It may just have a separate feature to read iPods/iPhones.

When you plug your phone in does it say anything about being USB connected? It may simply be a case of turning on USB storage (press the USB notification in the notification bar and you should get an option to turn on usb storage)

But I don't think you need to do anything as drastic as paying a fee to downgrade to an inferior phone. There are a million different car audio options that will let you play music through your stereo for far less than the cancellation fee.
