Closer to $40-:
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (Great up to 4.5GHz; A little more if you have a low voltage chip)

What do you mean by low voltage chips, are the newer generations of intel Core processors ( sandy & 2011) less power consuming, thus have a higher overclock with low vcore?

I bet he means.. if you're lucky enough to have a processor that will overclock with a lower vcore. (There are some on the 5Ghz chart that are at 5+ with 1.38V or something like that) Then you can get higher than 4.5Ghz.

Hyper 212+ is about $30. The Top of the line you mention are ~85+.

Isn't there anything thats smack dab in the middle that will do me justice?

Honestly, I'd spend the money on something else and get a Hyper 212+. I have three of them and they're great coolers. The only reason I bought the H50 for Comp1 was because of a killer sale. If I already had the Hyper on Comp1, I wouldn't have purchased the H50.

Agreed. I have an H50 and a 212+ and they each take care of cooling quite well. I'd spend the money you save on something else if you're going for "mid-range" overclocking.

(also, word of caution, make sure your case can hold whichever one you decide on!)

Yeah. I meant low voltage for OC (ex: 5.0GHz @ 1.40v)
