Steam account suspended: 100s of games and $$$ lost? - Page 18

I've had the pleasure of knowing two of the biggest cd-key sites owners, and I know how everything works.

I assure you their keys are not stolen, they're 100% legal bought in bulk from places like Poland and Russia.

However, Steam's ToS states that any purchase from an unauthorized retailer could be suspended or deleted as they may wish.

Again, those keys are 100% legal, but Steam doesn't like them, the main reason is because Steam does not get the profit they would if we bought them on the Steam store for double the price instead. tongue.gif

I have over 100 games in my Steam account (All bought on pre-order or release date, worth 50€-60€ all, except some from christmas/summer sales), and half of my Steam library comes from this kind of cd-key websites.

As long as you buy from a "trusted" key website, and making sure it is a region free key (No need for VPN), you are safe.

I would however, recommend everyone NOT to ever buy a key which is region locked and requires for example, a russian VPN. By doing this, you have a great chance of getting caught by Steam and getting your account suspended, then game removed (Which will likely then re-open your account, but you lose your game and the money you spent on it).

This is a gray area in the market, thus we can't give it any support within Overclock.net, therefore, I will be closing this thread, and I'd like to kindly ask everyone to please stop this discussion now.

Thank you.

Well well well. Look at that. Has NOTHING to do with using a key site.

Just an update on this situation: I am upset again. And here is why:

So I had contacted my credit card company/bank and told them to rescind the chargeback. Followed up with them again 3 days later to confirm that they had actually done it when I had called and told them to. It actually was processed by Chase with a transaction date on 12/18. I checked this online on 12/28.

So I send a reply email on the original email back to Steam/Valve explaining to them that the transaction was completed on my end and if they need any further information from me, and I want my Company Of Heroes Complete Pack back. This was on 12/28 , so no response for a day then on 12/29 I basically copy and pasted what ever I wrote on 12/28 and sent the email again and still no response at all.

Now bear in mind, I made the effort to go back and make sure that they got reimbursed for the original purchase instead of just taking the easy way out and repurchasing it for a similar price on the current winter sale that just passed.

So it's been 7 days and I have not received a response or acknowledgement aside from the automated receipt they send after I made good on my end. I don't think this is acceptable on their part and their customer service still leaves a lot to be desired.

Closing it again. thumb.gif

@themadhatterxxx I would suggest you to copy that into a new ticket, maybe the old ticket was closed or forgotten. tongue.gif
