New sprint phone (android)

Thread Starter
So i can finally upgrade my craptastic samsung moment this month to something that can actually send texts, and ive narrowed it down to 4 phones:

the evo shift 4g for $99 (i really like the keyboard, not a fan of the specs and lack of possible ICS upgrade...)

The Evo 3d for $199 (like the 3d, the dual core, and the ICS, wish it had a real keyboard...)

The Nexus S $99 (fast single core, lots of storage, no sd cards that will burn out... ICS, but no keyboard)

and the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic for $199 (best specs, awesome phone, ICS, but I want a damn keyboard)

so for these prices which phone is the most valuable for the money? I really want ICS but none of the phones gaurenteed to get it have keyboards and i hate the touchscreen ones with a passion, unless anyone can recomend a good sub $50 bluetooth keyboard/case for the other phones i dont know if i could deal with the touchscreen only mad.gif, Im looking for something that will work well for the next 2-3 years and not have all the dang problems my moment does (battery life/overheating, wont send texts, had to hard reset, freezes...

I've heard too many LOS issues with the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II, not sure if those have been fixed it yet.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275960

Nexus S has rather old and outdated hardware in my opinion. It's still a quick phone don't get my wrong, but its outdated in terms of the other phones you listed.

Personally running the EVO 3D, but I'm on HBOOT 1.4, I highly doubt you would receive one with HBOOT 1.4 which makes flashing a little different. I absolutely love it though, I never use the 3D except when people want to see it. The snapdragon is plenty fast, and with the setup i'm using I get <1% battery loss when idle running at the Qualcomm original CPU speed which is 1.5ghz.

You're able to run Dr. Dre Beats software on this phone if you're into that. That's if you're rooted of course.

Galaxy S II, beast of a phone, way better than the gimmicky EVO 3D. The LOS issue is overblown. The screen is amazing, and it's definitely one of its biggest appeals... not to mention it has the fastest CPU.

ok so I bought the samsung moment literally the first day it was available.. it worked great for about 2 months (you know when they say you cant return it anymore) and then it was a piece of crap for 2 years.

So when I had an upgrade path I didnt buy samsung again... I got an HTC Evo 4G and so far I love it. I also cared about the qwerty keyboard but the evo has such a big screen it wasnt a problem.

I also had an evo 4g. But it just feels slow compared to my gs2 and had worse battery life than the gs2.
EDIT: Also the Epic 4g Touch has a bigger and far far far more vibrant screen than the evo 4g if you need to see it I can put up some screen comparison pics. Only one con, I feel if I were to drop both phones the gs2 wouldnt make it, just be sure to get a case and you will be fine. Oh and LOS Issue was fixed with OTA update yesterday not that I ever experienced it.

It will survive a drop. I've dropped mines down the stairs once, bounced off a hardware floor from five feet and still looks brand new. The phones plastic flexs when dropped so it can withstand more than the evo. Get a soft case. A hard case will remove the phones ability to flex and places a higher chance of it breaking during a drop.

Epic 4G Touch, only phone that's in the boat for ICS update in time most likely, and probably has one of the best hardware specs if not the best hardware specs out there.
