I own a Nook Color, I'm running Cyangenmod 7 on it. Overclocked @ 1.2ghz it performs well for some basic tablet tasks, but ultimately I find it's missing too much to compare it to a more full featured tablet. It's missing things like a camera, a microphone, or haptic feedback. I don't know how the Android mods are progressing for the HP Touchpad but given that WebOS just went opensource, I'm definately going to try to buy one of those $99 HP Touchpads again.

From what I've read the Nook Tablet won't be getting updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. I can't remember why but it's something B&N have built into it that ensures CM7 is the last mod it will be able to install, thus 9 (ICS) won't work on it. A Kindle Fire is much better but of the 8GB on board storage you will only be able to use 5 and with no SD slot you're going to get very limited, unless you want to use Amazon's cloud (I want to throw up every time I hear the term cloud computing).

If you want something to read books on don't get a tablet, get an ebook reader. I bought a Nook Touch a few months ago and I absolutely love it. It's fantastic being able to read for hours without the eyes tiring from staring at an LCD screen.

Completely agree. I had the exact same setup, and eventually I sold it to someone. It came with a nice case that let me sit it horizontally, and so I could use it as a clock/timer when studying, even open PDFs, but it was too underpowered to handle any large files (textbook pdfs usually crashed) and the web experience was lousy at best. Maybe one day when they're 50 bucks I'd get one just for the novelty.

Also completely agree. I own a Nook Touch and it's great. It's remarkable how nice that screen looks sometimes. It's the closest I've come to seeing something virtual match the real world. Doesn't even look like a real screen.

Question: When I was looking into the Asus Prime, I read about ICS and I don't understand the hype. It really just seems like one more update for Android, and the new features aren't that exciting.

This website isn't Paypal. There's nothing we can do (or should do) to help you. Contact PayPal if you have problems with their service.

And as it's been said, a tablet isn't a very good e-reader, as it will strain your eyes. But if you don't mind that, virtually any tablet out there will have some software available for reading ebooks (Epub format, etc). PDFs a lot of times too.

Also, I'd like to note that the Nook Tablet and HP Touch Pad are very, very different products, both in look and feel. Not sure why you're debating these two, they seem a bit random. I get the feeling you don't understand Ebay very well.

If you can still find a Touchpad, go with that. I have one and it works very well for me. I've got it overclocked to 1.7Ghz and is extremely fast, totally stable with minimal impact to battery life. What's encouraging though is looking forward a year to when WebOS is fully opensource and the CM guys have an ICS version of CyanogenMod fully running on the Touchpad. That would make it a VERY attractive tablet option, especially at the $250 price point its currently available at (ebay and elsewhere).

Like others have said, if you can find the HP touchpad go with that. I have mine with cayanogen and it works great. With the release of alpha 3, all the major and most of the minor issues have been fixed.
