[Build Log] Originally Project Blue Creed, now being changed to white

edit: It was a year ago that I made this thread, and now it's time to upgrade my water cooling.

I thought that I would share my first computer ever built here. Wish me luck!

Here are what the specs are:

-i5 2500k
-Asrock p67 extreme4 gen3
-Corsair 650D
-Asus 6850
-Corsair tx850 v2
-8gb ripjaws x
-Corsair force SSD
-XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 w/ blue uv reactive coolent.

Yep, I'm water cooling on my first rig. I have a few friends who have done it in the past, so I'm going to have help.
I'm not going to get a HDD until the prices drop, and I may get the bitfenix alchemy braided cable extensions, but I may not.

I went down to microcenter today, and I picked up the 2500k, 6850, and 650d. Here are some pics

450

Don't worry, I only paid 180 for it, not 250

450

I also payed 180 for the 6850, not 200

450

I'm still waiting for the other parts to come from newegg, and I haven't ordered the water cooling loop yet, so I'm still open to suggestions

Its going to be a while before I will start building the computer, because I have to wait for christmas before I'm allowed to open any of the parts. I'm in high school, so I sill live with my parents, and rules are rules.

Are you watercooling your gpu and cpu? Or just your cpu? Because if you're doing both, you are better off just getting a better gpu with the money spent on the waterblocks and the increased performance with a lower gpu isn't worth it.

Not doing a GPU block for now. When I upgrade later.

I'm not doing anything seriously intense. Just some BF3, LOL, and some skyrim. This card is plenty biggrin.gif

I need a bit of input. Should I use the XSPC RASA 750 rs240 for my build? Most people love it and get great temps, and it seems easy enough to install.

I watercooled my first build also. I... and most users in the Watercooling forum... prefer the RX XSPC rad over the RS version. The RX is a thicker rad, and can dissipate the same... or more heat... at lower rpm's on your rad fans. The RS version is good if you don't have room for a thick rad, but you will have run the fans at higher RPM's... so it won't be as quiet as the RX version. One reason why people watercool is to have a quieter system.wink.gif

According to the video review of the 650D here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z5Z4OtlOtc A thick 60mm thick rad like the RX may run into the top of my motherboard, and my motherboard has a massive heatsink right above the cpu. http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P67%20Extreme4%20Gen3 so, I dont want to risk the rad not fitting. plus, its cheaper to get the RS instead.

Considering your mobo, and looking at this thread...
http://www.overclock.net/t/1097306/corsair-650d-with-rx240-pics

... I agree with you that it is safer to use the RS rad... especially with that heatsink at the top of the board.

Good luck with your build.thumb.gif
