Looking for new mb/cpu/ram, can't really decide... - Page 4

Hi Again all, and happy holidays!

So here in Canada, boxing day dec 26th is like the US Black Friday. So i found a couple options for the upgrade.

1) $310
- ntel Core™ i5-2500K Processor
- Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit (Cerulean Blue)

2) $280
- FX-8120 Processor
- Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard

questions:
- would the GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 be ivory bridge friendly?
- would the 8120 be more 'future proof' with win8 coming soon?

cheers!

The GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 should support Ivy Bridge with a bios update - It might even already have the bios out so you should be able to look for that on the website. It doesn't support PCI-E 3.0 though.. which isn't an issue if your not getting the latest graphics cards for 2012.

I would go with the i5-2500K setup. Ivy Bridge will and even Sandy Bridge stomp all over Bulldozer, and should even with win8.

My budget is < 300$, I've left PC gaming awhile ago so i'll be reusing my 8800gts in the upgrade.
I'm looking for a powerful system that i won't have an urge to upgrade in the next few years.
I've considered Intel again, but for my buget it would be tough to get a decent upgrade.
I'm considering the following
fx6100
or with the FX8120
A member has a combo 1090t/890fx/8GB but unfortunately does not ship to canada.
Any suggestions would be great.
Would i notice a difference b/w the 6100 and 8120?
cheers!

Keep an eye on Ebay and our For Sale section and you can get an i5-2500k, mb, and ram for that budget.
