The Intel's are still better no matter how you look at it.

Except that there's not a Ferrari make that will out run a corvette zr1...

Its like a bastard child was born and a coverup is now needed. Also Gulftown isn't aging technology, its still relevant for almost every piece of software out there and will be for years to come. Quit acting like Bulldozer giving Gulftown like performance has no merrit on anything.
At the other end of the spectrum, I think the 8150 should be 30 percent cheaper than it already is since the 2500k and 2600k are much better processors when its Bulldozer vs SB. Anyone who builds a Bulldozer rig over SB is dumb and I will admit to that before anyone.

It is sad tho that you have to compare bulldozer to an older generation of cpu's. The fact that you are even comparing the two when SB-E is out is ridiculous. The other thing that is ridiculous is that the 990x is still a HIGHER PERFORMING cpu than the 8150. That is why it costs more because it is BETTER. The margin between them, while it may not be as huge as between SBE and Bulldozer, is still there and people pay for the cpu that performs the best, no matter the cost, even if it may only be a 5-10% increase in performance it is still better.

That is why intel can charge that price.

Same reason gtx 580's cost so much, because they are the single fastest gpu out there. Even if it is only 10% better than a 6970. People will pay it.

If you looked at my link, you would see that it doesn't perform like a 990x. But, of course, you conveniently ignore my post.

why would anyone still buy the 6 core Intel Xeon X5690 3.4GHz for $1659.99 when you can get an 8 core AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz for $269.99
i mean the FX-8150 is just as good and it's almost $1391.00 cheaper, you could get four GPU's with that savings smile.gif

Comparing against server market products is by far the most ridiculous thing i've seen in this thread.

EDIT: Nevermind it was sarcasm aimed at a particular individual....lol I wonder whoooooooooooooo?

I have that site in my sig so I have already looked at it before. For the price/performance AMD has Gulftown beat. Also that site is just for a rough estimate between CPU classes not taking into considering overclocking,etc.. I prefer my own benchmarks.

also at the 1920 res the 8150 was head to head with 980x in most games, there are exceptions of course. At the lower rez Intel shows it has a superior arch
but the price tag that goes along with it negates any viable argument.

Intel wins in the encoding department for the most part. 3DMax and Cinebench in AMD's favor.

big difference in the 990x is $1,000 and the 8150 is the $250.

if the 990x was now priced at $499 with the released of SB-E , then people could hate on AMD more and I would be fine with that.
