Yes, a very old setup. Microsoft had something similar when optical frame based technology first emerged.

The "threshold" I mentioned is simply there. Easily noticeable when I have the G400 right next to it. In a game or on the desktop, try to move in very small circle that are pretty much a square of 4 pixels large.

Makes fine precision adjustments after a flick shot a bit annoying.

To bad though as I actually prefer the shape over the G400.

I'd call it the Zowie CN, Chuck Norris, the mouse of mice.

Tbh if Zowie would keep tweaking the AM, it'll probably be perfect in 6 months. Not just button issues though, all issues, sensor, buttons, shape,...

What kind of pad are you tracking on? I'm using an Artisan Hien with my AM and can't duplicate this issue. If I lean in really close to my monitor, I can actually watch the cursor move a single pixel

Yes, it's an awesome mouse for sure and probably one of the best I've used at 450CPI. It's so close yet so far to being a definitive choice...

I can't reproduce your "threshold" issue on my main mousepad (plastic Zowie Swift), btw, so maybe it might happen with your specific pad/cloth pads?

Afaik he's using a Raindropz XXL.

Ok, got my Zowie AM today, plugged it in, tried it out, everything seemed great. My aim is way better now that I have a mouse with a good sensor and without any acceleration/prediction. But if I am not able to fix two mandatory problems I will have to return it.

The first is that when I push down the mouse buttons and hold them pushed down, either left or right one, doesn't matter, it seems like there occure little breaks in which either the mouse or my computer does not recognize the signal of me pushing the mouse button down. This leads to a) lots of tks, as I can't time my nades and randomly throw them in front of me, I usually time them so they explode when they hit the floor, you have to keep the mouse button pushed down for that, as sometimes the signal gets lost or whatever my character just throws the nade when this happens, b) I can't properly copy any text anymore, it's annoying as hell.

The second problem is a really strange one, sometimes when I make a movement, not a sudden one, a normal one, my mouse cursor somehow freezes and the movement gets transmitted a few seconds after that. It's not my computer freezing, but simply my mouse. When playing a FPS this is annoying as hell, as I am practically defenseless for a couple of seconds. I already checked if I am maybe lifting the mouse up and this is a side effect of the small LOD, but no, it is not. I use a SteelSeries Qck btw, there should be no problems with it.

Hope you can help me with those two problems, I'd not like to send this otherwise great mouse back.

You can still make those circles but it takes longer for the mouse to start tracking then the G400 for instance. Could be just my AM though if so... bummer.

Received the Zowie AM today. Everything is great except the LOD is extremely low. I thought it would be comparable to the EC2 but it seems much lower on a QCK plain black pad. Next up trying the spawn or xornet.

Does the same thing happen on other pads? This still seems more likely to be an issue with the tracking surface than a defect in the mouse, IMO.

If the only thing you dont like about the AM is the LOD, you might want to try a Sensei. It's about the same shape as the AM but has an adjustable LOD. Trade-off would be a censor with slight acceleration. The spawn does have a slightly higher LOD than the AM but the horrible cable, less-than-stellar software and relatively low perfect control speed at 800dpi keeps me from using it on a daily basis.
