[WCCF] AMD Radeon HD 7970 (Tahiti XT) Benchmarks Leaked - Page 7

Whether or not the slide is real is kind of irrelevant. The chart is showing the performance we would expect from a next gen card. For those of us running multiple current-gen GPUs though, this isn't much of an upgrade unless you're willing to shell out for two of them.

Seems shady to me, almost screaming fake.

Yeah, but the numbers that the other cards scored on that graph don't match what current reviews say about their performance. It's a fake.

Shrinking the Die size is not what makes a GPU faster. All die size does is decrease power usage and run cooler. The new architecture is what will make the chip faster.

384bit memory bus + higher clock speeds should be interesting.

Hold up - this should be in rumors and unconfirmed - just like all the OCN mods moved the early BD benchmarks (which later turned out to be true)

This happened last time with the 6970 beating the 580 is like one or two games but getting raped in everything else, I hope the 7000 series expectations don't get so high that its a failure no matter what.

This kind of thing is why I stay out of these threads. For some reason video cards get all the boys of fandom out in droves.

Put aside your blind fanboy love for nvidia aside for a second and understand if this is true, it is very much an accomplishment. Also, it is not using XDR2 RAM and your suggestion that XDR2 ram would help is laughable. It will be using GDDR5. I'm pretty sure GDDR5 isn't anywhere near being saturated.

People like this annoy me. Obviously you have NO knowledge of GPU history beyond the 5870 and 480. Late to the game?

The 3870X2 = 4870, 2x 8800GT/GTX = GTX280, GTX295=GTX480, 4870X2=5870, etc.

Dont get me wrong, I am an AMD fan, but I highly doubt that this new architecture is going to be as fast as some people are hoping!

This would be the expected speeds...Any major change in GPUs (Especially process size) usually matches the last gen dual GPU cards.

Multiple say, GTX 480s/580s or the like. Your 460s would see an improvement.

But there is a bit of an upgrade there, it'll have a higher minimum FPS, less driver issues (For when there actually are any) and use a lot less power.

I'm definitely considering the 7970.
