Wow, got here just in time
DxTory is better than fraps in every single possible way imo. I bought a license for DxTory with a friend of mine (we went halves) and the key works for both of us.
Dxtory has so much more customization and causes much less of an in-game fps hit, which is what I hated about fraps. Also, if your in-game fps ever went below 60 with fraps, it'd get locked down to 30 while recording. DxTory allows you to have any in-game fps while recording the video in 30 fps (or whatever you choose).
I'm not sure why dxtory is still relatively unknown compared to fraps, when almost everyone who uses dxtory on a modern pc believes it's superior. It could be because dxtory is a japanese program or something (although you can choose an English version, if it's not English by default).
EDIT: I don't see much point in recording at 1080p when Youtube 1080p quality is so crap atm, so all my videos are in 720p. For reference though, a 15 minute 720p video of BF3 at 30fps takes up about 35gb of space, give or take a few gb's.Edited by Arnotts - 12/11/11 at 5:13am
