***EDITED FRAPS questions.*** Bandicam. - Page 6

Thanks for the advice. I have read up about Bandicam, FRAPS and Dxtory.

So far I am deciding if I should get Dxtory or Bandicam. FRAPS is out of my selections now after watching some videos about it.

The good thing about Bandicam is that it compressors your file while recording to about 1/5 to 1/20 of the size of FRAPS files.

Also I have heard great things about Dxory.

What do I get?

Thanks everyone!

Try the free versions of both, you should get the one that gives you the least lag in game with file sizes you find acceptable. How they affect gameplay is the most important factor for me. I've not tried Dxtory yet but I will now though.

Thanks for that.

So my choices are Dxtory and Bandicam.

Could anyone tell me pros and cons of both?

Thanks!

Also, if I have my recorder (Bandicam or Dxtory) set on a 60GB SSD (the SSD that boots my OS) and my games set on a separate 128GB SSD, what should I record the games on?

The SSD that is playing my games?

Or the SSD that has the recorder on it (and also the OS)?

Thank you everyone thumb.gif

Whichever of your SSD's is faster is what I would say. Traditionally we say to the drive not being used at the time. But if your SSD can do 250-300 MB/s then it wont even matter with compressed video. Worked out last night the Raid 0 array I am recording to benches around 170 MB/s and I am only recording about 68 MB/s to it.

Unless you have a really cruddy SSD (you can get some small ones that are pretty slow, meant for applications that dont need speed but need non mechanical storage) you should be fine anyway you go. If you have a nice 500 MB/s SSD you really wouldnt ever have to sweat it.

Well, I my SSD setup is as follows:

60GB SSD (OS and drive my recording program will be on) = http://www.corsair.com/ssd/force-series-3-ssd/force-series-3-60gb-sata-3-6gbps-solid-state-hard-drive.html

128 SSD (this is the drive that stores all my games and runs them) = http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT128M4SSD2

Which drive should I have my games record to?

Thanks you thumb.gif

I am wanting to buy FRAPS because I have heard that it is really good for recording online gameplay on games like BF3, Skyrim and other games.
I have a list of questions that I need to ask before buying FRAPS.
1) Can it record the gameplay, the games audio and and your own microphones audio at the same time?
2) Can I buy it from dads PC, but install it on my own PC (since my dad will not do the PayPal transaction on my PC)?
3) Does it record in 1080p?
4) Do I need a different media player than Windows Media Player (I don't really want to get a different media player?
Thanks you all so much for your time reading and hopefully answering my questions.

Get dxtory much better imo, I use it for bf3 and most other games.

I get better fps because dxtory isn't as system heavy as fraps is. trust me its better than fraps.

The problem I have with Dxtory is that it records big files. Bandicam records smaller files and ready to upload to YouTube straight away. Also I wont be able to record a full 1080p video because the drive that it will record on is only 60GB keep in mind my OS will be on this drive.

Thank you!

I actually got tons of FPS drops with dxtory, especially while starting/stopping recording, FRAPS is awesome for me and I lose very few FPS.

Ok after watching some videos on YouTube, I have decided to go with Bandicam because of the smaller files sizes (I have an SSD tongue.gif).

So could people tell me their experiences with Bandicam?

Just one quick question. Once I upload a video from my computer to YouTube, can I delete it or will I have to keep it? Sorry, but I am really new to all this (and I have never uploaded a video to YouTube tongue.gif).
