Stuck between MX Red and MX Black - Page 3

I hate Blues, Tried browns, reds and blacks. I could not press Shift with my left pinky because it was a bit heavy for gaming. Everything else was good. I personally would get browns. Blues are very nice if you like the click. Red are terrible. K60 is plan horrible feel. I tried it at NCIX and very low quality build. Not only that but they where silen as hell and could only tell the difference from rubber because the F1-F12 in K60 uses worst rubber ever. Browns are the best for general. Blues are for typing a lot.

I'd take the rubber domes as a base if you cannot try the board before buying. If you like how "stiff" they were, go blacks. If you'd like them softer, go with browns/reds.

Thats why I said browns are the some people hate the hard feel of the "dome" keyboards.

Recommending browns and saying reds suck is pretty silly to me. Makes me wonder how many people have actually used these switches and aren't just talking out their backsides.

I had the mionix zibal 60.
It was not that great... its WAY overpriced for what it is, better of with a shine. The backlighting has to be on its brightest setting to even be slightly acceptable.

Blacks are WAY to heavy and causes finger fatigue and can start causing pain in the wrists.

I would avoid the keyboards you listed.
Zibal- HORRIBLE yellow backlighting and the keycap quality is not so great, black switches are too heavy
K60- not fully mechanical. All the f keys, esc key, and the home/del group of keys are rubber dome.
G1- black switches, too heavy of a switch.

In my personal opinion I would choose rubber dome over black switches any day because they are so uncomfortable. I would go with reds and I highly recommend the ducky shine.

Have you thought of trying browns? I went with browns and could not be happier with them, And I game mostly with them.

ALSO: keep in mind, black switches are stiffer/heavier than rubber domes and they feel VERY springy when you push them down.

I didn't say the reds sucked for every one I just said they weren't good for me, every one has their difference, calm down man.

I use browns because I like them, I was just going based off my recommendations.

Thanks for the input,
I got fed up today and decided to find a shop that sells a mech keyboard so i can try one out, nearest shop to my work had a razor black widow with Blue switches.
These are the first mech switches i have tried and i have to say i like them very much, being in a big electronics store however these sounded rather quiet, not sure how it would be in a quiet room at home, but i rather like the tactile bump of these and the clacky is somewhat awesome, so i think i will get either Blues or Browns now.

2 new keyboards on my list.

Das Keyboard Ultimate Silent (blank keys)
or a Ducky board.

Any other browns i should look at? Not interested in leopold or filco

Any reason you aren't interested in Leopold or Filco?

Browns do not have that tactile bump you are looking for in blues. I'm not saying they have none, but blues are much more pronounce and heavy. If you like Blues, then go for them! I wouldn't recommend the Razr model though, they are not known for their quality builds. You might want to check out Ducky, DAS, or Rosewill. Filco would be about top tier in terms of build quality, but I'm not sure why you don't want one.

I love my Browns because they are pretty much the hybird of mechanical keyboards. They are good for everything.

It may sound silly but the Leopold and Filco, while they are nice keyboards, they just look too much like any other old keyboard. I like the look of the Daskeyboards, or a backlit Ducky i wouldn't mind either.

I really would like something with lasered keys like the ducky special edition tiger, or just blank like the DAS ultimate silent.
While i don't want radical styling like this crappy TT Challenger Pro that i'm using, i don't want something that looks like just another keyboard.

So i had Mionix originally, but i think i will cross of Cherry Blacks now.
I rather like the Blue switch so far. However i'm not too fussed about the tactile bump, if its a bit less with the browns, thats fine by me.

Maybe a regular DAS has blue switches, but no blank keys.

got my keyboard with reds in, waaaay too light for me after adapting to blacks. but i still like them, they feel like blues with no bump to me, real light

also the Das is very glossy like the black widow, I wouldn't personally recommend it. Id recommend a Filco, the quality is pretty nice, otherwise I'd say a Ducky, the Filco and Ducky keyboards don't look ordinary to me and out of all the keyboards I've used/tried they are my personal favorites.
